He enlisted in the World War and after going to Ft. Devens, was dispatched overseas May 1, 1918. He was in service in the Toul sector, St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne. He returned from service in May 1919. Besides his father, he leaves a wife, Hilda Lane Ball; a son Edward; two sisters Mrs. Gladys Seeley and Mrs. Madeline Peppard and a brother Gerald S. Ball, all of Athol."1
