     Donald D. Gilmore was born on 17 July 1921 at MN.^1,2 He was the son of Ansel Epenetus Gilmore and Bertha Louisa Scoville.¹ Donald D. Gilmore died on 13 August 1944 at France at age 23; his plane was shot done during World War II.² He was buried at North Freeborn Cemetery, Freeborn, Freeborn Co., MN.²
     From military communications to the family: Lt. Gilmore 22 years of age was reported missing in action on August 13, 1944, after fifty-seven missions over enemy territory as pilot of a P-51 Mustang fighter plane. "Further information has been received indicating that your son, First Lieut. Gilmore was the pilot of a P-51 Mustang on a dive-bombing mission over Rouen, France on August 13, 1944. At approximately 1:15 o'clock p.m. that day near Gisors, France, your son's plane ran into the enemy's anti-aircraft fire was struck and crashed to earth. Crew members of accompanying fighters were unable to learn the losses on Gilmore's plane."³

     Samuel Ball was born on 16 November 1775 at Crawford, Ulster Co., NY.¹ He was the son of Ephraim Ball and Mary Hedden.¹ Samuel Ball married Martha Van Duzer, daughter of Adolphus Van Duzer and Eunice Coleman, on 11 November 1797.¹ Samuel Ball died on 18 January 1841 at Litchfield, Bradford Co., PA, at age 65.¹
