Dunham.3 Elizabeth Ella Ball married Walter Eaton Mellish, son of William Mellish and Hannah Pope, on 8 January 1867 at Bellows Falls, Windham Co., VT.2 Elizabeth Ella Ball died on 9 July 1918 at West Groton, Middlesex Co., MA, at age 73.2 She was buried at Center Cemetery, Shirley, Middlesex Co., MA.2
     As of 8 January 1867,her married name was Mellish. Excerpts from an obituary: "Mrs. Elizabeth E. Mellish, wife of Walter E. Mellish, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, at the home of her son, Edward W. Mellish, in West Groton, where, with her husband, she had been for a week. The cause of her death was acute nephritis. Her age was 73 years and 6 days. The desceased was born on July 3, 1845, in Bellows Falls, Vt., and was a daughter of Henry W. and Mary (Dunham) Ball, her father being a tanner. On Jan. 8, 1867, she married Mr. Mellish at Bellows Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Mellish celebrating their golden wedding anniversary in January, 1917.
     Mrs. Mellish, with her husband, has been a resident of Shirley for 30 years, although for several years Mr. and Mrs. Mellish have spent the winters with their daughters near Boston. She attended the Shirley Baptist church, and took a deep interest in its affairs. Besides her husband she leaves a son, Edward W. Mellish of West Groton, two daughters, Annie Mellish Woodland, wife of Stuart Woodland of Cambridge, and Helen Mellish Peers, wife of Herbert Peers of Peabody, and four grandchildren, Marion A.
