     Ralph Wilber Barr was born on 18 June 1909 at Greenfield, Hancock Co., IN.1 He married Freda Elsie Van Antwerp, daughter of Russell Willard Van Antwerp and Lulu Nellie Allen, on 22 May 1936 at Angola, Steuben Co., IN.1 Ralph Wilber Barr died on 8 December 1984 at Rochester Hills, Oakland Co., MI, at age 75.1
     He taught and coached in small communities in southern Michigan, and later was the Superintendent of several small rural school districts. In 1954, he and Freda moved to Midland, Michigan with their two children and remained there until their retirement in 1971. In Midland, he was an elementary school principal, and was named Michigan's Outstanding Practicing Principal by his professional organization, MEMSPA. Ralph saw considerable action in the South Pacific sea campaigns in WW II, and remained in the Reserves until retirement.1

     Freda taught school in Dowagiac for seven years prior to her marriage. Her thirty-six years in education were varied. Her experiences included starting the first cooperative nursery school in Flint, teaching family life and homemaking classes to teens, and pioneering individualized reading instruction in Michigan. She taught adult education and university classes as well. In 1962, she was named Outstanding Elementary Teacher in Midland, Michigan.1

     Francis Willard Van Antwerp was born on 20 February 1898 at Dowagiac, Cass Co., MI.1 He was the son of Russell Willard Van Antwerp and Lulu Nellie Allen.1 Francis Willard Van Antwerp married Mary McKenzie circa 1925.1 Francis Willard Van Antwerp and Mary McKenzie were divorced in 1945.1 Francis Willard Van Antwerp died on 6 June 1951 at Chicago, Cook Co., IL, at age 53.1
     Francis had a successful career in banking, which he began in Dowagiac and South Bend, Indiana. Twice his bank was held up and one of those times, it was by the Dillinger Gang with 'Baby Face Nelson'. At the time of his death, he lived in Glenview, Illinois and was the President of the Merchandise National Bank in Chicago.1
