Lester Joseph Wilsey1

M, #56131, b. 28 July 1898, d. 27 January 1967
Lester Joseph Wilsey was born on 28 July 1898 at Black River Falls, Jackson Co., WI.1 He was the son of Jabez Willsey and Nellie Schoolcraft.1 Lester Joseph Wilsey married Dovie Lee Murray, daughter of Charles A. Murray and Kinnell Cora Ella Garmon, circa 1923.1,2 Lester Joseph Wilsey died on 27 January 1967 at Blue Mountain, Calhoun Co., AL, at age 68.1 He was buried at Edgemont Cemetery, Anniston, Calhoun Co., AL.1
He lost his mother and a sister in 1901, his father Jabez in 1902, and his only surviving sibling Florence in 1905. Lester was listed on the census of 1910 Jackson Co. WI., as adopted son, with Alonzo and Eunice Irish. Eunice was Lester's mother's sister. According to the court guardianship records, they were suppose to have been his guardians to look after him and his property until he was of age. Maybe the census taker was just told that he was adopted. When Lester got old enough, he left his home in Wisconsin and joined the army in Arizona. He signed on as Lester Jay Willsey (he later dropped one of the 'L' from his surname). Lester re-enlisted in the army twice, ending up at Fort McClellan in Anniston, Calhoun Co., Alabama, where he meet Dovie Murray, got out of the army, and married.3
