Abigail Ball1
F, #43129
Abigail Ball was the daughter of Ezekiel Ball and Mary Littell.1 Abigail Ball married Matthew Nichols on 8 November 1807 at Butler Co., OH; Abigail Ball and Matthew Nichols.2
Comment by DGB: Some trees show a birth year of 1790 for Abigail (making her just 17 at her marriage), but unless she was a twin to Hannah, that wouldn't work. Some trees show a 1 Mar 1786 birth date for Abigail at Westfield, Union Co., NJ and that is a feasible date, but the records available on her parents show that they lived in Essex Co. NJ, so that location is suspect. Similarly there are various children attached to this couple. The ones listed here come from the research done by Frank C. Ball of Muncie IN in the early part of the 20th century and none have any data. The 1880 census for Elk, Clayton Co., IA shows a William Nichols, age 66, born OH to a mother born NJ and with an apparent brother John Nichols age 51, born OH, but showing his mother born PA. A number of trees show that Matthew and Abigail (Ball) Nichols had a son John born about then, but (if William actually was the son of Matthew and Abigail) it could be more likely explained that Abigail died before 1829 (she would have been a bit over age 40) and John was the son of Matthew and a second wife. End of comment. As of 8 November 1807,her married name was Nichols.
