After teaching a year in the Preparatory Department of the Institute, in 1889 she entered Vassar college. She studied classical and scientific courses, graduating with high honors in 1893. She then pursued advanced studies in biology. In 1894 she accepted a position of teacher of science in the high school at Bloomfield, NJ. She remained there three years. In the summer of 1897 she was chosen principal of the school at Narberth, Pa.¹
