     Comment by DGB: The primary basis for assigning Albert as the son of Albert C. Ball is that both were living 2 dwellings apart for the 1870 census and that both were carriage trimmers. However, young Albert was not with Albert C. Ball for either the 1850 or 1860 censuses, nor has his location been determined for either of those censuses. Young Albert Ball's age in the 1870 census suggests that he was born circa 1841, which would have been several years before the current estimate for the marriage of Albert C. Ball and Mary Chandler, so may have been born by an earlier wife or outside of a marriage. There is an Albert Ball (with wife Barbara), born circa 1845 in Ohio to a father born New Jersey and a mother born Virginia, living in Whiting KS in 1880 that has a vague chance of being this Albert.
