     James William Ball was born circa January 1821 at Chester, Rockingham Co., NH; age at death 77y 11m.^1,3,4 He was the son of James Ball and Nancy Crilly.¹ James William Ball married Susan Matilda Cargill, daughter of Willard Cargill and Mary Fanning Cottrell, on 20 August 1846 at Wrentham, Norfolk Co., MA.¹ James William Ball married Harriet A. Sawyer on 7 June 1859.^5,6 James William Ball died on 30 December 1898 at North Attleborough, Bristol Co., MA.⁴
     From an obituary: James W. ball recently deceased was born in Chester, N.H., January 12, 1821 and was 77 years and 11 months old at the time of his death. June 7, 1859, he was married to Harriet A. Sawyer with whom he has lived happily until separated by death. Five children were born to them of whom four are still living. Ten years of his life was spent in New York. He removed to North Attleboro in 1861 and was engaged as bookkeeper for the old firm of Lincoln, Tift & Bacon. After severing his connection with the above firm he formed a co-partnership with E. W. Davenport of this town for the manufacture of jewelry. Mr. Davenport retired from the firm after two years and Mr. Ball assumed the business, but the hard times carried him with thousands of others into a failure.
     He has been a member of the Free Evangelical church since its organization and was one of the trustees who purchased the present site upon which the church now stands. For many years he was clerk of the corporate society of the church and in his younger days was active and energetic in his church connection.      As of 20 August 1846,her married name was Ball.¹

Morse, daughter of Lorenzo Morse and Mary Balcolm, on 16 August 1868 at Wrentham, Norfolk Co., MA.² James Arnold Ball died on 24 December 1909 at Cranston, Providence Co., RI, at age 62.³

     Susan M. Ball was born on 4 July 1850 at Wrentham, Norfolk Co., MA; age at death 1y 2m 26d.^1,2 She was the daughter of James William Ball and Susan Matilda Cargill.¹ Susan M. Ball died on 30 September 1851 at Wrentham, Norfolk Co., MA, at age 1.¹

     Harriet A. Sawyer was born circa 1832 at Mystic, New London Co., CT.^2,3 She married James William Ball, son of James Ball and Nancy Crilly, on 7 June 1859.^4,1
     Comment by DGB: Note that the birth record for daughter Ida lists her mother as "Harriett A. Barrows". Also, that an obituary for Jams William Ball states that his wife was "Harriet A. Sawyer". It is possible that Harriet had an earlier marriage, but it is not clear which surname was her maiden name. End of comment. As of 7 June 1859,her married name was Ball.

     Ida Ball was born on 28 September 1867 at Wrentham, Norfolk Co., MA.¹ She was the daughter of James William Ball and Harriet A. Sawyer.¹ Ida Ball died on 8 October 1867 at Wrentham, Norfolk Co., MA.²
