     Comment by DGB: There are several proposed parent couples for Jonathan Knap, but none are proven. The candidates are: John Knap(p) married Sarah Austin 7 Oct 1685, Aaron Knapp Jr. married Rachel Burt 5 Dec 1686, and Samuel Knap(p) married Elizabeth Cob(b) 26 May 1687, all at Taunton, Bristol Co., MA and all are most likely brothers and sons of Aaron Knapp Sr. There was a Thomas Knap(p) that married Mary Grout 19 Sep 1688 at Sudbury MA, but he died in 1703, well before the likely birth year for Jonathan. As well, a significant number of trees list Jonathan's parents as Nathaniel Knapp and Rebeckah Cobb, but they didn't marry until 19 Mar 1720/30, so could not have been parents to Jonathan.
     Various on-line trees for John Knap(p) list children such as Moses (b. 1687 or 1713), Ruth (b. 1705 or 1712), George (b. 1720), Theodore (b. 1690), and Jonathan (b. 1705, 1707, 1709, or 1712). There is no place location for any of these births, although many trees suggest Taunton or at least Bristol Co. MA
     Trees with a proposed Nathaniel as Jonathan's father vary greatly both with the list of siblings to Jonathan and with the birth years, with many ranging well into the midlle 1700s suggesting that there is a mixture of two Nathaniels. None of the on-line trees suggest that Samuel Knap(p) and Elizabeth Cob(b) were parents to this Jonathan. Much work needs to be done to clearly identify parents for Jonathan. End of comment.
