     Rufus Douglas Ball was a salesman for the Mark Levy Wholesale Fruit Company in 1898 where his father was the bookkeeper. By 1904 he was a travelling salesman for the Portland S. and C. Company. Then in 1906 Rufus was a travelling salesmand for the Blake-McFall Company and by 1909 was sent to Seattle as their representative. In 1915 he was back in Portland and a salesman for the Oregon Paper Company.¹
