     Comment by DGB: Nancy Mae Johnson was Nancy Quartermas when she married Thomas Shatto in 1879. Both Lucy and her brother Robert were both born well before Nancy's marriage to Thomas Shatto, so it would suggest that their actual father was Enoch Quartermas. However, since all subsequent records show that the father of Lucy and Robert to have been Thomas Shatto, it is possible that both Nancy and Robert were raised as his children. Whether there was a formal adoption process underpinning this is not known. End of comment. As of 5 October 1895,her married name was Sater. As of 15 November 1902,her married name was Walters.⁵ As of 10 February 1912,her married name was Gamble.⁴ As of 21 September 1916,her married name was Roach.⁶

     Robert L. Quartermas was born circa 1878 at OH.¹ He was the son of Enoch Quartermas and Nancy Mae Johnson.¹ Robert L. Quartermas died on 11 August 1899 at Columbus, Bartholomew Co., IN.²
     Comment by DGB: Nancy Mae Johnson was Nancy Quartermas when she married Thomas Shatto in 1879.
