Frederick A. Ball

     Frederick A. Ball was born on 1 April 1828 at Princeton, Worcester Co., MA.1 He was the son of Amos Ball and Elizabeth S. Stratton. Frederick A. Ball married Lucretia S. Severance, daughter of Selah Severance and Hannah Putnam, on 22 March 1853. Frederick A. Ball died on 17 April 1906 at Raynham, Bristol Co., MA, at age 78.1
     In December 1848 he went to Shelburne Falls, MA and was in the employ of Lamson & Goodnow & Co., where he remained in various capacities for 54 years. One year as clerk in their store, then in their office as bookkeeper.

In 1855 Lamson & Goodnow Mfg. Co. was incorporated and he was elected clerk of the corporation. In Februrary 1866 he was made treasurer of the company and held that office until February 1885, being a director as well as corporation clerk until he resigned in February 1904.

He was elected president of the Shelburne Falls Savings Bank October 1866 and held that office until he resigned in October 1902.

He held office in the Arms Cemetery Association from its organization in 1856, until its annual meeting in April, 1903. When the grounds became too limited he, with A.K. Hawks, formed a committee to purchase additional land, lay out and prepare the same for the Soldiers' Monument, completed April 1, 1874. Held office of Justice of the Peace 21 years to November 19, 1903.2

It is not known whether these were accompanied by intervening divorces or whether there was some administrative need for repeating the ceremony.3 Mary E. Ball died circa 1912 at Worcester, Worcester Co., MA.2 She was buried at New Hope Cemetery, Worcester, Worcester Co., MA.4
