     Norris Gates Graham was born on 28 June 1904 at Cedar Rapids, Linn Co., IA.¹ He was the son of John Samuel Graham and Mary Elva Lickiss.¹ Norris Gates Graham died in 1906 at Cedar Rapids, Linn Co., IA.¹

     Helen Mary Graham was born on 27 October 1908 at Cedar Rapids, Linn Co., IA.¹ She was the daughter of John Samuel Graham and Mary Elva Lickiss.¹ Helen Mary Graham married Lester George Brookman on 6 June 1931 at Nashua, Chickasaw Co., IA.¹ Helen Mary Graham died on 8 August 1995 at Red Wing, Goodhue Co., MN, at age 86.¹
     As of 6 June 1931,her married name was Brookman.¹

     Lester George Brookman was born on 3 September 1904.¹ He married Helen Mary Graham, daughter of John Samuel Graham and Mary Elva Lickiss, on 6 June 1931 at Nashua, Chickasaw Co., IA.¹ Lester George Brookman died on 22 November 1971 at Edina, Hennepin Co., MN, at age 67.¹

     Milton Henry Lindale Thawley was born on 27 February 1882 at Denton, Caroline Co., MD.¹ He was the son of John Wesley Thawley and Adelaide Eugenia Cochrane.¹ Milton Henry Lindale Thawley married Pheobe Emily Maddox on 14 February 1922 at Denver, CO.¹ Milton Henry Lindale Thawley died on 29 October 1970 at Holly Oak, New Castle Co., DE, at age 88.¹
     Milton reported that he was, for about 6 years, a member of the Barnum Bailey Circus, doing advance work for the traveling troupe. This was before WWI. He reported that he often traveled with the circus on trains. During one of these trips, some other members of the troupe found out that he was ticklish. They then set about tickling him, and he jumped from the train rather than endure it longer. (all of above told to me as a child - Robin Anderson)

Milton had bright red hair, was tall (about 6'1') and wore glasses. He was first married to (unknown) and had 3 children: Willard (Wid), Ella Jean, and Ann Morgan Thawley. This marriage ended in divorce. (information from daughter Emily Thawley Anderson)

During WWI, Milton worked in France in the mail service. I do not know if he was in the Army at the time or if he went as part of the USPS. After the war, he worked for the USPS in Washington D. C. where he married Phoebe and where their first child, Emily, was born. (told to me by Milton)

At later times in his life, Milton worked as a Maytag (?) repairman/salesman in Carbondale, PA, and as a plumber in Princess Anne, MD. (information from daughters Ellen and Emily).

Milton died from cancer of the stomach (metasteses in liver and lungs).¹

     Pheobe Emily Maddox was born on 9 March 1885 at Quindoqua (near Marion), Somerset Co., MD.¹ She married Milton Henry Lindale Thawley, son of John Wesley Thawley and Adelaide Eugenia Cochrane, on 14 February 1922 at Denver, CO.¹ Pheobe Emily Maddox died on 5 May 1975 at Claymont, New Castle Co., DE, at age 90.¹
     Phoebe Emily Maddox was, for a long time, the head nurse at a small hospital in Marion, MD. It was reported that she met Milton Thawley there, though they actually married in Washington D.C. At some point in her life, before the development of penicillin, Phoebe had a bad ear infection, which took the hearing from one ear.¹ Her married name was Thawley.¹

     (????) Thawley is the daughter of Milton Henry Lindale Thawley and Pheobe Emily Maddox.¹

     Elizabeth Thawley was born on 8 October 1924 at Carbondale, Lackawanna Co., PA; twin of Ellen.¹ She was the daughter of Milton Henry Lindale Thawley and Pheobe Emily Maddox.¹ Elizabeth Thawley died on 23 July 1975 at Wilmington, New Castle Co., DE, at age 50.¹
     She Betty and Ellen were twins. Betty worked for many years as a bank teller in Wilmington, Delaware. She married Jack Moore late in her life, and had no children. She died of breast cancer and is buried at St. Paul's Church in Quindoqua, near Marion, MD.¹ As of 13 May,her married name was Moore.¹

     John Wesley Thawley was born on 26 May 1852 at Caroline Co., MD.^2,1 He married Adelaide Eugenia Cochrane, daughter of James L. Cochrane and Mary Ann Hallock, in 1879 at Kent Co., DE.¹ John Wesley Thawley died on 23 October 1929 at Crisfield, Somerset Co., MD, at age 77.^2,1 He was buried on 26 October 1929 at Burrsville, Caroline Co., MD.¹
     He was a Methodist and a Democrat. He was a member of the Blue Lodge Free & Accepted Masons. He was a plumber and had a lumber business.¹

     Adelaide Eugenia Cochrane was born on 12 January 1857 at West Killingly, Windham Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of James L. Cochrane and Mary Ann Hallock.¹ Adelaide Eugenia Cochrane married John Wesley Thawley in 1879 at Kent Co., DE.¹ Adelaide Eugenia Cochrane died on 19 August 1943 at Crisfield, Somerset Co., MD, at age 86.¹
     As of 1879,her married name was Thawley.¹

     James L. Cochrane was born on 29 June 1822 at Westborough, Worcester Co., MA.¹ He was the son of James Cochrane and Betsey Peirce.¹ James L. Cochrane married Mary Ann Hallock. James L. Cochrane died in 1895 at Kent Co., DE.¹

     Mary Ann Hallock was born on 4 August 1824 at Malta.¹ She married James L. Cochrane, son of James Cochrane and Betsey Peirce. Mary Ann Hallock died at Kent Co., DE.¹
     Her married name was Andrews.¹ Her married name was Cochrane.

     James Cochrane was born on 19 November 1792 at Londonderry, Rockingham Co., NH.¹ He married Betsey Peirce, daughter of Seth Peirce and Patience Spring, on 24 May 1819 at Westborough, Worcester Co., MA.¹ James Cochrane died on 7 November 1874 at Westborough, Worcester Co., MA, at age 81.¹
     James was a War of 1812 pensioner of Worcester MA. He served under Enos Goss in the Massachusetts Militia. He is listed as a carpenter and sleigh maker.¹

     Betsey Peirce was born on 10 August 1798 at Hopkinton, Middlesex Co., MA.¹ She was the daughter of Seth Peirce and Patience Spring.¹ Betsey Peirce married James Cochrane on 24 May 1819 at Westborough, Worcester Co., MA.¹ Betsey Peirce died on 2 April 1883 at Westborough, Worcester Co., MA, at age 84.¹
     As of 24 May 1819,her married name was Cochrane.¹

     Robert Gray Anderson was born on 22 October 1919 at Philadelphia, PA.^1,2 He died on 17 April 1996 at Salisbury, Wicomico Co., MD, at age 76; SSDI lists last residence as Hebron, Wicomico Co., MD.^1,2
     After high school, he joined the National Guard. Was then mustered into the Army at the start of WWII, with the 111th Army Infantry. Entered as Sergent, promoted on discharge to 2nd Lt. Served in the Pacific theater.¹

     Seth Peirce was born on 8 February 1766.¹ He was the son of Francis Peirce and Lydia Ball.¹ Seth Peirce married Patience Spring, daughter of Thaddeus Spring and Patience Jackson, on 7 October 1795 at Hopkinton, Middlesex Co., MA.¹ Seth Peirce died on 8 November 1847 at Hopkinton, Middlesex Co., MA, at age 81.¹
     Comment by DGB: Some trees include a daughter Fanny, b. 4 Mar 1821, but that would have been after her proposed mother, Patience, would have turned 50 years old. End of comment. He lived on an old homestead, part of which was in Hopkinton and part in Westborough. For awhile he owned and managed a saw & grist mill. He was also a stone cutter and farmer.¹

     Patience Spring was born on 2 July 1769.^1,2 She was the daughter of Thaddeus Spring and Patience Jackson. Patience Spring married Seth Peirce, son of Francis Peirce and Lydia Ball, on 7 October 1795 at Hopkinton, Middlesex Co., MA.¹ Patience Spring died on 7 March 1854 at Hopkinton, Middlesex Co., MA, at age 84.¹
     As of 7 October 1795,her married name was Peirce.¹

     Francis Peirce was born on 18 July 1729 at Hopkinton, Middlesex Co., MA.^1,2 He was the son of William Peirce and Sarah Whitney. Francis Peirce and Lydia Ball posted marriage intentions on 27 December 1759 at Hopkinton, Middlesex Co., MA.^2,3
     He was a private in the Revolutionary War in Massachusetts.⁴ From Barber's His. Coll.: 'About the year 1746, twelve men and a boy were enlisted in this town (Hopkinton), by Capt. Prescott of Concord, to go upon the expedition to Cuba. They went, and all died there except the boy, Francis Peirce; he returned, and it was remarked by the old people that they were twelve of the most robust young men in the town.¹'

     Betsey M. Cochrane was born circa 1820.¹ She was the daughter of James Cochrane and Betsey Peirce.¹

     Mager Brevoort Thawley was born on 7 September 1884 at Hickman, Caroline Co., MD.¹ He was the son of John Wesley Thawley and Adelaide Eugenia Cochrane.¹ Mager Brevoort Thawley died in 1958.¹

     Minnie Adelaide Thawley was born on 1 April 1891.¹ She was the daughter of John Wesley Thawley and Adelaide Eugenia Cochrane.¹ Minnie Adelaide Thawley died on 30 April 1942 at age 51.¹

     Myrtle Evelyn Thawley was born on 3 March 1889.¹ She was the daughter of John Wesley Thawley and Adelaide Eugenia Cochrane.¹ Myrtle Evelyn Thawley died in September 1986 at age 97.¹
