     Ebenezer Tourgee was born circa 1806 at RI.² He married Angeline Ball, daughter of Edmund Ball and Charity Dodge, on 10 May 1829.¹

     Dr. Eben Tourgee was the son of Ebenezer Tourgee and Angeline Ball.¹
     He was a Director of the New England Conservatory of Music.¹

     Jeremiah H. Tourgee was the son of Ebenezer Tourgee and Angeline Ball.¹
     Jeremiah H. Tourgee began military service on 5 June 1861 at RI. He enlisted in the 2d Rhode Island Regiment as a private, was promoted to a First Lieutenant, and served through the whole Civil War.¹ He ended military service on 14 June 1865; received an honorable discharge.¹

     Hiram D. Ball was born on 22 June 1818 at New Shoreham, Block Island, Washington Co., RI.^1,2 He was the son of Edmund Ball and Charity Dodge.^1,3 Hiram D. Ball married Catherine Mott, daughter of Thomas Mott and Catherine Mitchell.⁴ Hiram D. Ball married Mary Ann Mott, daughter of Freeman Mott and Hannah Littlefield.⁴ Hiram D. Ball died on 30 December 1891 at age 73.⁵ He was buried at Old Cemetery, Block Island, Washington Co., RI.⁵
     Comment by DGB: It would appear that Hiram Ball and Catherine Mott were divorced, since Hiram is on the 1850 census with second wife Mary and Catherine is back living with her father, but with son Noah Ball. End of comment. He from his "Seaman's Protection Certificate": age 23, born New Shoreham RI on 14 September 1841 at Newport, Newport Co., RI.²

     Catherine Mott was born circa 1813 at RI.² She was the daughter of Thomas Mott and Catherine Mitchell.¹ Catherine Mott married Hiram D. Ball, son of Edmund Ball and Charity Dodge.¹
     Her married name was Ball.¹
