Ball died say June 1844; sailed from New York as mate of the schooner Empress of Taunton, Mass., Benjamin Shores being Master, bound to Richmond, VA, on the 20th day of May, 1844, and neither vessel nor crew has been heard of since. There is a marker for him in the Old Cemetery on Block Island.³
