     Charles Ball was born circa 1820 at Ireland.¹ He was the son of (????) Ball. Charles Ball married Margaret Anne Murphy, daughter of Jacob Camae Murphy and Mary Black, on 5 October 1846 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Quebec City, QC, Canada.² Charles Ball died on 15 May 1888 at Toronto, York Region, ON, Canada; a gardener; had been ill 3 months.³
     There was an "infant child" of Charles and Ann Ball buried 21 December 1864 at Church of England, Portneuf, QC, Canada.⁴ From various city directories, Charles Ball, laborer, lived at 334 Sumach Street from before 1873 through 1875. The address was changed to 336 Sumach either 1876 or 1877 and Charles Ball, laborer, shows that residence through 1888 when he died.^5,6

     John Ball was born circa 1822 at Ireland.¹ He was the son of (????) Ball.

     Elizabeth Caroline Jess was born in November 1876 at Portneuf Co., QC, Canada.^2,3 She was the daughter of Thomas Jess and Caroline (????)¹ Elizabeth Caroline Jess married John Ball, son of Abraham Ball and Susanna Williamson, on 3 November 1894.^4,5 Elizabeth Caroline Jess died on 13 November 1952 at ME.^6,7 She was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Westbrook, Cumberland Co., ME.⁷
     As of 3 November 1894,her married name was Ball.⁴ She immigrated circa 1895.⁴

     Samuel John Ball was born on 11 August 1899 at Westbrook, Cumberland Co., ME.^2,3,1 He was the son of John Ball and Elizabeth Caroline Jess. Samuel John Ball married Mary Emma Cairns on 9 January 1929 at NH; they eloped.¹ Samuel John Ball died on 12 June 1992 at Canfield, Mahoning Co., OH, at age 92.^3,1 He was buried on 21 September 1992 at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, OH.¹
     He worked for W. T. Grant going around the country setting up new stores before going into the service for World War II, where he was in charge of shipping through the Canal Zone. He got his undergraduate degree from Bowdoin.⁴ He registered for Selective Service on 12 September 1918. His residence was Westbrook, Cumberland Co., ME.      Mary Emma Cairns was born on 5 May 1904 at Long Island, NY.^2,3 She was the daughter of Edward W. Cairns and Caroline Elise Scherrer.¹ Mary Emma Cairns married Samuel John Ball on 9 January 1929 at NH; they eloped.¹ Mary Emma Cairns died on 20 April 1981 at Arcadia, DeSoto Co., FL, at age 76.²
     As of 9 January 1929,her married name was Ball.¹

     John Edward Ball is the son of Samuel John Ball and Mary Emma Cairns.

     Celia Warfield Purnell is the daughter of Lyttleton Bowen Purnell III and Josephine Metcalf Warfield.¹

Schneider was born on 8 February 1914 at Chicago, Cook Co., IL.¹ She married Earl Thomas Ball, son of John Ball and Elizabeth Caroline Jess, on 18 September 1943 at Chicago, Cook Co., IL.² Frances T. Schneider died in April 1996 at age 82; SSDI lists last residence as Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois.¹
     As of 18 September 1943,her married name was Ball.²

     Abraham Ball was born on 20 September 1857 at Cap Sante, Portneuf Co., QC, Canada.¹ He was the son of Abraham Ball and Susanna Williamson.² Abraham Ball married Edith Denton, daughter of William H. Denton and Sara Beattie, on 27 March 1890 at Bayonne, Hudson Co., NJ.³ Abraham Ball died on 22 June 1940 at Staten Island, Richmond Co., NY, at age 82.⁴

     Sarah Ball was born circa 1859 at Halesboro, Portneuf Co., QC, Canada.¹ She was the daughter of Abraham Ball and Susanna Williamson.² Sarah Ball was baptized on 11 September 1859 at Church of England, Portneuf, QC, Canada; born Halesboro.¹ She died before 1892; not mentioned in her father's will.³

     Edward Ball was born on 24 July 1863 at Bourg-Louis, Portneuf Co., QC, Canada.¹ He was the son of Abraham Ball and Susanna Williamson.² Edward Ball was baptized on 8 November 1863 at Church of England, Portneuf, QC, Canada.¹ He married Fannie Jess, daughter of Thomas Jess and Caroline (????), on 23 May 1894 at Anglican Church, Halesboro, Portneuf Co., QC, Canada.^3,4 Edward Ball died on 29 February 1936 at QC, Canada, at age 72; of Shawinigan Falls.¹ He was buried on 2 March 1936 at Anglican Christ Church Cemetery, Halesboro, Portneuf Co., QC, Canada.^5,6,1

     Margaret Ball was born circa 1865 at Portneuf Co., QC, Canada.¹ She was the daughter of Abraham Ball and Susanna Williamson.² Margaret Ball married Leroux M. Vreeland, son of Abraham Vreeland and Eleanor F. Rapp, circa 1895.³ Margaret Ball died at Plainfield, Union Co., NJ.¹
     As of circa 1895,her married name was Vreeland.³ She is listed in both the 1900 and 1910 census as having given birth to 2 children and that both were alive. On the 1920 census both Margaret and Leroy Vreeland are listed as having married twice. The 1930 census lists her age at her first marriage as 29, which, because her birth date is not clear at this time, could imply either to her circa 1895 marriage to Leroy Vreeland or an earlier marriage by a year or so. Also, because Leroy's first wife, Carrie Denton, died a few days following the birth of Leroy, Jr., it is assumed that Carrie was the mother of that child. Since there are only Leroy, Jr. and Kenneth Wallace shown living with Margaret on the 1900 and 1910 censuses, if she bore a child by an earlier marriage, still living in 1900 and 1910, perhaps there was a divorce with loss of child custody. Or, more likely, Margaret treated Leroy, Jr. as her own child and that was what she told the census enumerator. Some more research is needed to resolve this confusion.^3,4,5

     Roma E. Ball was born in February 1897 at Westbrook, Cumberland Co., ME.^1,2 She was the daughter of John Ball and Elizabeth Caroline Jess.³ Roma E. Ball married Boyce A. Thomas, son of Lavon W. Thomas and Annie G. Gillis, on 11 January 1919 at Westbrook, Cumberland Co., ME.⁴ Roma E. Ball died in 1940.⁵

     Louise Depew was born on 27 January 1869 at Plainfield, Union Co., NJ. She married Stuart Hayt Patterson, son of Andrew Stuart Patterson and Mary Ayers Hayt, on 18 September 1895 at Grace Church, Plainfield, Union Co., NJ. Louise Depew died in 1943.
     As of 18 September 1895,her married name was Patterson.

     Edith Denton was born on 25 March 1871 at Tidioute, Warren Co., PA.^1,2 She was the daughter of William H. Denton and Sara Beattie. Edith Denton married Abraham Ball, son of Abraham Ball and Susanna Williamson, on 27 March 1890 at Bayonne, Hudson Co., NJ.² Edith Denton died on 28 December 1943 at Staten Island, Richmond Co., NY, at age 72.³
     As of 27 March 1890,her married name was Ball.

     Milton Jesse Ball was born on 12 April 1892 at Bayonne, Hudson Co., NJ.² He was the son of Abraham Ball and Edith Denton. Milton Jesse Ball married Irene Ada Farrell, daughter of Edward Farrell and Mary (????), circa 1912.³ Milton Jesse Ball died on 20 February 1937 at Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., PA, at age 44.⁴
     He registered for Selective Service on 5 June 1917. His residence was Jersey City, Hudson Co., NJ. He was a stillman for Tide Water Oil Company in Bayonne NJ. He was of medium height, of slender build, with blue eyes, and brown hair.      Fannie Jess was born circa 1871 at Portneuf Co., QC, Canada.¹ She was the daughter of Thomas Jess and Caroline (????)¹ Fannie Jess married Edward Ball, son of Abraham Ball and Susanna Williamson, on 23 May 1894 at Anglican Church, Halesboro, Portneuf Co., QC, Canada.^2,3 Fannie Jess died on 4 June 1900; in childbirth.²
