     Comment by DGB: Dr. Druse had Nathan as son of Charles and Sally Ball and grandson of Zerubabbel Ball. Other Ball families in the neighborhood in Michigan were related to Daniel Ball and Diantha Clark, whose ancestry goes back to John Ball of Watertown MA, but could also be related to Zerubabbel Ball, who was also a descendant of that John Ball.      From the "Oswego Daily Times" 14 September 1894: "An action has been commenced in the supreme court of Wayne county wherein Charles Ball, formerly of South Sodus, is plaintiff and his wife, Clara Ball, defendant, in which the plaintiff asks for a decree of absolute divorce. Another action in the same court has been instituted in which the same plaintiff demands a judgment against William Rush, a prominent resident of South Sodus, for the rather modest sum of $5,000 upon the ground that Rush has alienated the affections of Mrs. Ball...."⁷ From the "Oswego Daily Times" 1 March 1895: "The famous South Sodus case of Charles E. Ball against William E. Rush was on trial all day yesterday in Wayne circuit court before Hon. William H. Adams and a jury. The action is brought to recover $10,000 at which plaintiff estimates the value of his wife's affections and alleges that the defendant in alienating the same has damaged him in that sum."⁷ From the "Oswego Daily Times" 2 March 1895: "The jury in the case of Charles E. Ball against William E. Rush brought in a verdict of $1,500 for the plaintiff last evening shortly before five o'clock after being out since half past one o'clock. The verdict was well taken and is generally believed to be right."⁷
