     Edward L. Ball was born on 29 November 1843 at Sebec, Piscataquis Co., ME.1 He was the son of William Ball and Charlotte A. Hanson.1 Edward L. Ball married Sarah Livermore Walker, daughter of Augustus Willard Walker and Abigail Hanson.1
     He married just before enlisting for the Civil War. He started home from Louisiana at the end of the War, but was never heard of again. Comment by DGB: The problem here is that if Edward was away from his wife from sometime in 1864 or earlier and never returned, is the birth date of Ophelia possible? End of comment.1 Edward L. Ball served in the Civil War and enlisted on 4 November 1861 at Sebec, Piscataquis Co., ME. His Civil War record included: enlistment into into H Company, 11th Infantry (Maine) and mustering out on 18 November 1864.2
