     From an obituary in the "Milford Times": "This community was shocked to hear of the death of Wm. F. Ball, which occurred on Friday morning, January 5, at seven o'clock after a brief illness with pneumonia. His condition had not been considered especially serious until just a short time before he passed away. Mr. Ball was born at St. Catherines, Ont., March 8, 1867. He leaves his mother, Mrs. Wm. Ball, three sisters, Mrs. H. L. Holmes of Flint, Mrs. A. Voight of Anchorville and Mrs. G. H. Thompson of Detroit and two brothers, Fred Ball of Deford and Edward Ball, who lives with the mother. William Ball had always lived here with his mother and was highly respected in the community. The funeral services were held at the home on the morning of Monday, Jan. 8, conducted by Rev. A. Longfield. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at West Highland."1
