     Gertrude Elizabeth Ball was born circa 1873 at MI.² She was the daughter of William Francis Ball and Elizabeth Dixon.¹ Gertrude Elizabeth Ball married Rufus Lincoln Hutchings, son of Thomas Hutchings and Dorothea L. Crane, on 4 October 1888.³

     Comment by DGB: Placing of Beriah Ball as a son of Horatio and Adelia Ball is a guess based upon similar location in New York State. One problem is that the 1880 census lists both parents as born NY, rather than CT and RI. However, the wife of his son Gaineham and their son Clark are living with cousin Horatio Ball, Jr. in the 1870 census. As well, the name "Adelia" does appear among the descendants of Beriah Ball, so there is some potential to the relationship. End of comment.

     Mabel Hutchings was born on 3 June 1889 at Highland, Oakland Co., MI.¹ She was the daughter of Rufus Lincoln Hutchings and Gertrude Elizabeth Ball.¹ Mabel Hutchings married Lyle W. Doty, son of Isaac Doty and Kitty Greer.¹ Mabel Hutchings died on 3 June 1936 at Ann Arbor, Washtenaw Co., MI, at age 47.¹

     Rufus Lincoln Hutchings was born on 17 July 1870 at Rose City, Ogemaw Co., MI.¹ He was the son of Thomas Hutchings and Dorothea L. Crane.¹ Rufus Lincoln Hutchings married Gertrude Elizabeth Ball, daughter of William Francis Ball and Elizabeth Dixon, on 4 October 1888.² Rufus Lincoln Hutchings died on 27 February 1942 at Highland, Oakland Co., MI, at age 71.¹

     Lyle W. Doty was born in November 1883 at Rose City, Ogemaw Co., MI.¹ He was the son of Isaac Doty and Kitty Greer.¹ Lyle W. Doty married Mabel Hutchings, daughter of Rufus Lincoln Hutchings and Gertrude Elizabeth Ball.¹ Lyle W. Doty died on 29 December 1960 at age 77.¹
