(Wager) Kimmens, 89, formerly of Hudson, died Sunday in Pine Knoll Nursing Home in Lexington where she had resided for the past one-and-a-half years. Her husband, Harold A. Kimmens, died in 1976. She leaves a son, H. Raymond Kimmens of Hudson; a daughter, M. Lou Cataldo of Lexington and Sanbornton, N.H; two brothers, Walter Wager of San Diego and Raymond Wager of Florida; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was born in Fall River, the daughter of William H. and Emma (Lang) Wager, and had lived in Hudson for 63 years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Merrill- Carleton Funeral Home, 1 Pleasant St. Rev. Ellen C. Bailey will officiate. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery.¹

     At the time of his enlistment in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry on 12 Jul 1861 Samuel gave his occupation as butcher. On 30 Jun 1862, at Nelson's Farm, Virginia, Samuel was reported missing. On 24 Jan 1863 Samuel ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts due to disability.      Samuel Brigham left his family about 1869 to roam the western states and died in an accident near Washburn, in the Dakota Territory.¹

Brigham, aged 69 years citizen of the Town of Bolton, County of Worcester, State of Massachusetts, well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declare in relation to aforesaid case, as follows: I am the recognized Widow of Samuel D. Brigham as papers sent you on the the settlement of his estate will show that I was legally entitled to his property sent when I made application for accrued pension due him on his death. There were nine (9) children born to us. When he came home from the War he was brought home a cripple. I took care of him for two years, he being entirely unable to work. I kept a boarding house in Clinton, Massachusetts. I support him and our children as he gained in strength he decided to go West. I received letters and money from him, but the letters are lost or burned up. He never applied for divorce to my knowledge. His relatives in this vicinity are ready to affirm my claim as his widow.¹
