     William Allen Gilham was born circa 1880.¹ He was the son of John Ray Gilham and Catherine Ball.¹ William Allen Gilham died in 1884.¹

     Clyde Ralph Gilham was born in August 1885.¹ He was the son of John Ray Gilham and Catherine Ball.¹ Clyde Ralph Gilham died in October 1885.¹

Backus and Mary Frances Ball.¹ Lorenzo Russell Backus married Alice Mary Reed, daughter of Mary E. (????), on 13 November 1875 at Mason Co., IL.¹ Lorenzo Russell Backus died on 29 December 1922 at Cape Girardeau, Cape Girardeau Co., MO, at age 67.¹ He was buried on 31 December 1922 at Fairmont Cemetery, Cape Girardeau, Cape Girardeau Co., MO.¹
     Comment by DGB: Some sources have interpreted the 1880 census record as meaning that Alice Reed has died by 1880. The 1900 and 1910 censuses list Lorenzo as having been married since about 1875. Part of the problem is that in 1900 Lorenzo and Alice are living with her mother and her mother's surname is not "Reed", but something like "Sarnes" or "Tarnes", but that could just mean her mother remarried. Alice's first five children died before the 1900 census and none were living in 1880, so it is possible that was part of the reason Alice had separated from Lorenzo for awhile. End of Comment.
