     Comment by DGB: The attachment of Joseph to parents Peter Ball and Abigail Dix is a guess based upon the limited number of Ball families with space for a son in the 1745-1750 time frame, the naming of Joseph's first son "Peter" and third daughter "Abigail", the name of Peter's father having been "Joseph", and the apparent moving of Peter and Abigail from Waltham likely shortly after the birth of daughter Martha in 1745 (which might have put them in a developing area where Joseph's birth would not be recorded).
