     As of 4 June 1914,her married name was Ball.¹ From an obituary in the "Providence Journal": Mrs. Gladys R. Ball, 65, of 15 Main St., Wickford, died yesterday at South County Hospital after being stricken Sunday at her home with a heart attack. She was the wife of Chester W. Ball Sr. Born in Providence, Jan. 10, 1896, she was a daughter of the late Everett F. and Eleanor (Hoyes) Willis. A resident of Wickford most of her life, she was a member of Narragansett Council of the Sons and Daughters of Liberty and the Wickford Baptist Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Harold W. Ball of Wickford; Chester W. Ball Jr. of East Greenwich; and Edmund F. Ball of Salinas, Calif; a daughter, Mrs. Harold DeMello of Hamilton; a sister, Mrs. Lee Crumb of East Greenwich; two brothers, J. Gardiner Willis of Allenton; and James A.      Chester William Ball was born on 7 November 1914 at North Kingstown, Washington Co., RI.¹ He was the son of Chester William Ball and Gladys Ruby Willis.¹ Chester William Ball married Marion Gertrude Symons, daughter of W. George Symons and Bertha Northup.¹ Chester William Ball died on 16 February 1985 at Warwick, Kent Co., RI, at age 70.¹ He was buried at Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, Washington Co., RI.¹
     From an obituary: Chester W. Ball Jr., 71, of 37 Castle St., a former wire roller, died yesterday at Kent County Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Marion G. (Symons) Ball. Born in North Kingstown, a son of the late Chester W. Ball, Sr., and Gladys R. (Willis) Ball, he lived in East Greenwich since 1957. Mr. Ball worked for the Improved Seamless Wire Co., Providence, until retiring. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a past national counselor of the Sons and Daughters of Liberty, and a past provincial grand master of the Rhode Island District of Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Manchester Unity. Besides his wife he leaves two brothers, Harold W. Ball of Narragansett, Edmund F. Ball of Salinas, Calif., and a sister, Elleanor R. DeMello of North Kingstown.      Marion Gertrude Symons was born on 11 August 1920 at East Greenwich, Kent Co., RI.¹ She was the daughter of W. George Symons and Bertha Northup.¹ Marion Gertrude Symons married Chester William Ball, son of Chester William Ball and Gladys Ruby Willis.¹ Marion Gertrude Symons died on 28 January 1991 at Warwick, Kent Co., RI, at age 70.¹ She was buried at Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, Washington Co., RI.¹
     Her married name was Ball.¹ From an obituary in the "Providence Journal/Evening Bulletin": Marion G. Ball, 70, of 2898 South County Trail died yesterday at Kent County Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Chester W. Ball Jr. Born in East Greenwich, she was a daughter of the late W. George and Bertha (Northrup) Symons. Mrs. Ball was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Liberty, the Odd Ladies and the East Greenwich United Methodist Church. She leaves four sisters, Winifred C. Bradish of North Kingstown, Dorothy M.      He and Mary Kinnecol were partners.¹ From an obituary in the "Providence Journal/Evening Bulletin": Harold W. Ball, 76, of Othmar Street, an employee of Ernie's Garage, North Kingstown, for several years before retiring, died Wednesday at Kent County Memorial Hospital, Warwick. Born in Wickford, a son of the late Chester W. and Gladys R. (Willis) Ball, he had been a resident of North Kingstown before moving to Narragansett 13 years ago. Mr. Ball had been a maintenance man for Grant's Department Store, North Kingstown, for 10 years. He leaves a sister, Eleanor R. DeMello of North Kingstown; and a brother, Edmund F.      Edmund Francis Ball was born on 22 August 1920 at North Kingstown, Washington Co., RI.^1,2 He was the son of Chester William Ball and Gladys Ruby Willis.¹ Edmund Francis Ball married Rosilla Jane Marden, daughter of Ralph Hodges Marden and Maude Estelle Purdy, on 29 August 1941 at RI.¹ Edmund Francis Ball died on 10 January 2008 at El Sobrante, Contra Costa Co., CA, at age 87.¹ He was buried at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Salinas, Monterey Co., CA.¹
     From an obituary on "The Californian.com": Edmund Francis Ball Sr., 87, of Prunedale, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008. He was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Rhode Island and moved his family to California in the early 1950s, settling in Prunedale in 1955. He passed away quietly in the El Sobrante home of his youngest daughter surrounded by the love of his family. Ed was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and highly respected by all who knew him. He will be sorely missed as the firm foundation of his family and the constant support of his community. He was always available with an open heart to listen and offer comfort and assistance to family, friends, and neighbors. Survivors: Sister, Ellenor DeMello of Rhode Island; son, Edmund F. Ball, Jr. of Salinas; daughters, Sandra L. Fritts of El Sobrante and Sylvia E.      Elleanor Ruby Ball was born on 22 March 1923 at Wickford, Washington Co., RI.^1,2 She was the daughter of Chester William Ball and Gladys Ruby Willis.¹ Elleanor Ruby Ball married Harold Daniel DeMello, son of Harold D. DeMello and Lillian T. Provost, on 27 July 1957 at Wickford Baptist Church, North Kingstown, Washington Co., RI.¹ Elleanor Ruby Ball died on 4 April 2016 at age 93.³ She was buried at Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown, Washington Co., RI.³

     Gladys Mildred Ball was born on 27 September 1926 at North Kingstown, Washington Co., RI.¹ She was the daughter of Chester William Ball and Gladys Ruby Willis.¹ Gladys Mildred Ball died on 18 August 1928 at North Kingstown, Washington Co., RI, at age 1.¹
     From an obituary in the "North Kingstown Standard Times": Gladys Mildred Ball, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester W. Ball, of Main street, was killed Saturday morning in the water directly in back of the house where she had been playing with her brothers and sisters. The little one, nearly two years old, evidently had fallen off the stone wall and struck her head on a rock in about six inches of water. Her father was working in the yard and the other children had evidently left her alone. When she was missed, a search was made, both on the shore and on the streets near her house. The glare of the sun on the water prevented anyone seeing the body floating for awhile and it was not for about 30 minutes that she was discovered floating a short way from shore by Edward Greene. She was taken to Dr. Manning's office, where an attempt was made by the doctor, assisted by the Stae an unknown place police, to revive her by the use of a pulmotor. It is said that practically no water was found in the child's lungs, and since there was a bruise on the head, it is thought that she was killed by the fall and not drowned. After an hour's futile effort the doctor, who is also the Medical Examiner, gave permission for burial.¹

     Rosilla Jane Marden was born on 12 December 1919 at Burlington, Chittenden Co., VT.^1,2 She was the daughter of Ralph Hodges Marden and Maude Estelle Purdy.¹ Rosilla Jane Marden married Edmund Francis Ball, son of Chester William Ball and Gladys Ruby Willis, on 29 August 1941 at RI.¹ Rosilla Jane Marden died on 1 March 1993 at Natividad Medical Center, Salinas, Monterey Co., CA, at age 73.¹ She was buried at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Salinas, Monterey Co., CA.¹
