She was born Feb. 26, 1943, in Wheeling, W.Va. Peggy celebrated life all the way until her death. She volunteered at the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital cancer ward and at the Steinbeck House. She was also a Sunday School teacher. Survivors: Husband of 38 years, Edmund F. Ball; children, Edmund F. Ball III of Arizona, Kirk D. Ball of Arizona, Lon W. Ball of Salinas, Margaret S. Meharg of Salinas, and John W. Ball of Red Bluff; brothers, John J. Thomas of Miami, Fla., and William L. Thomas of Martins Ferry, Ohio; sister, Susan G. From and obituary: Pastor Virgil Wayne Fenters, Sr., finished his race at his home in Gustine, California and went to be with with his Lord Jesus Christ Saturday, January 5th with his loving family by his side. He fought a long, hard battle with liver disease and was a liver transplant recipient over 18 years ago. Virgil was born in Modesto, California. He spent his youth in Salinas, California before joining the US Navy in 1971 where he served until 1979. God's path brought him to Gustine where he resided for the past 20 years. Virgil loved his Lord Jesus Christ, his family and many friends; living life to the fullest until 2007. He was co-pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Gustine. For the past 28 years Virgil used his great sense of humor as he lovingly and caringly worked with youth ministries in Vallejo, Newman and Gustine. He managed youth camps, rejoicing when he saw young people turn their lives over to the Lord. He also spent many years coaching youth baseball in Gustine. Virgil was an avid hunter and fisherman, he loved the outdoors, camping and golfing. He always looked forward to sharing time with family and friends on vacations and holidays. He is survived and missed by his loving wife of 26 years, Debra Fenters of Gustine; daughter, Laura West and her wonderful husband, Paul and granddaughters Melissa and Marlena Babcock of Sacramento; son, Virgil Fenters, Jr. and his lovely wife, Christina of Edgewater, Maryland; daughter Tiffany Fenters and son Benjamin Fenters both students at Fresno State University; mother, Bernadine Fenters and brother, David Fenters both of Loxley, Alabama; sister, Alice Cain of Robertsdale, Alabama; and wonderful friends Jerry and Sue Tooley.
