     Lela Ethel Kinney was born on 17 November 1915 at Madrid, Franklin Co., ME.^1,3,4 She was the daughter of Charles Elroy Kinney and Ella May Huntington.⁴ Lela Ethel Kinney married Carl Wesley Hurd, son of Arthur Napoleon Hurd and Amelia Jane Ball, on 7 June 1935 at Androscoggin Co., ME.^1,4 Lela Ethel Kinney died on 24 November 1992 at age 77; SSDI lists last residence as Lyndonville, Caledonia Co., VT.³ She was buried at Dunham Cemetery, Madrid, Franklin Co., ME.⁴

Riffer died on 28 March 1974 at Northwood, Wood Co., OH, at age 64.³ She was buried at Willow Cemetery, Oregon, Lucas Co., OH.¹

     John Clyde Ball was born on 7 August 1903 at NY.^1,3,2 He was the son of William H. Smith and Mary Delia Ball.^1,4 John Clyde Ball died on 5 July 1922 at age 18.² He was buried at Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredonia, Chautauqua Co., NY.²

     Maxwell Eugene Ball was born on 23 October 1903 at Dunkirk, Cattaraugus Co., NY.^1,3,4 He was the son of William H. Smith and Mary Delia Ball.^1,5 Maxwell Eugene Ball married Doris Ruth Whelpton, daughter of Melville Whelpton and Minnie Helwig, on 14 January 1922 at Dunkirk, Cattaraugus Co., NY.² Maxwell Eugene Ball and Doris Ruth Whelpton were divorced before 1933.⁶ Maxwell Eugene Ball died on 25 December 1947 at Toledo, Lucas Co., OH, at age 44; suicide.⁴
     Comment by DGB: On his marriage license application for his second marriage, Maxwell Ball lists his parents as William H. Smith and Mary Ball. The conflict with this statement is that on the 1905 census record Maxwell and his brother John are listed as "Ball" surname with their Ball grandparents and above the couple William and Mary (Ball) Smith. End of comment.
