After John died in a car accident in 1943, Gladys continued to operate the tire shop for several years. She married Jamie Eaves in 1948 and they opened an OK Tire shop in Lamar, Missouri. She also owned and operated Wardrobe Cleaners for many years. She also worked at King's Dress Shop and Novak Accounting Service.¹ As of 30 January 1926,her married name was Harlin. As of 1948,her married name was Eaves.¹

     Martin Winslow Gates was born on 19 February 1827 at Dummerston, Windham Co., VT.¹ He married Lucy Rosella Cook, daughter of William Cook and Anna Haven Gates, on 28 March 1855 at Springfield, Hampden Co., MA.¹ Martin Winslow Gates died on 21 January 1882 at Seward, Stafford Co., KS, at age 54.¹ He was buried at St. John, Stafford Co., KS.¹
