     Comment by DGB: The 1790 and 1800 censuses probably indicate another son and three daughters, possibly by his second wife Betsy, although none of these children have been identified. End of comment. He began military service in June 1777 at New Haven, New Haven Co., CT, when he enlisted into the Company of Capt. Richards and Regiment of Col. Jedidiah Huntington.
