     James Waterman was born on 20 September 1751 at Mansfield, Tolland Co., CT.1 He was the son of Daniel Waterman and Ann Ford.1 James Waterman was baptized on 25 November 1751 at Mansfield, Tolland Co., CT.1 He married first Submit Sullard, daughter of Joseph Sullard and Mehitabel Ball, on 7 June 1781 at Norwich, Windsor Co., VT.1 James Waterman married second Anna (????) after 1798.1 James Waterman died on 15 May 1823 at Norwich, Windsor Co., VT, at age 71.1
     He began military service on 16 August 1776 as a Private in Captain Strong's Company. About 19 October 1780 he was a Private in Captain Timothy Bush's Company. This company was active at the time the British came to Royalton, and continued in service guarding and scouting at Strafford at the Newbury alarm.1
