Daniel W. Ball1

M, #1367, b. circa 1794, d. 2 January 1866
Daniel W. Ball was born circa 1794 at NH.1 He was the son of Daniel Ball and Lydia Smith. Daniel W. Ball was born circa 1795 at Marlborough, Cheshire Co., NH.2,3 He married Hannah Bolles, daughter of Nathaniel Bolles and Hannah (????), on 3 December 1816 at NH. Daniel W. Ball married Caroline Mundell on 21 September 1868 at Brattleboro, Windham Co., VT.4 Daniel W. Ball died on 2 January 1866 at Auburn, Rockingham Co., NH.5
He Comment by DGB: The marriage record for Daniel W. Ball and Caroline (Mundell) Eager shows him as born in New Hampshire and Daniel's parents as Daniel and Lydia Ball. The 1860 and 1870 censuses indicate that Daniel W. Ball was born about 1795 in NH. The only potential Ball family I have found that might match these data bits is that of Daniel Ball (son of Daniel and Lucy Ball of Shrewsbury MA) that married Lydia Smith and moved to NH about 1785. That couple had a son Daniel born c1794 in NH (the correct time and place for Daniel W.) To make this family work Daniel W. Ball needs to have simultaneously had two families (not unheard of) and that his son Altruman has to have been born out of wedlock in VT. The major problem is that there is a Find-A-Grave listing for Daniel W. Ball b. 15 mar 1795 at Marlborough NH to Daniel and Lydia Smith Ball, but that Daniel W. Ball supposedly died 2 Jan 1866 at Auburn NH, and supposedly is buried at the Auburn Village Cemetery. While the husband of Caroline, Daniel W. Ball is listed on the census as living in Jun 1870 with her in Guilford VT. One could hypothesize that the death of a Daniel W. Ball in 1866 was "faked" (included having been reported to the state) allowing a double-life Daniel Ball to again just be one Daniel Ball. End of Comment. Mentioned in his mother's will.6
