     Adonijah Ball was born on 5 December 1762 at Athol, Worcester Co., MA.^1,2 He was the son of Moses Ball and Susannah Nutt.¹ Adonijah Ball married Mary Phillips on 28 February 1788 at Athol, Worcester Co., MA.³ Adonijah Ball died on 17 December 1833 at Athol, Worcester Co., MA, at age 71.⁴ He was buried at Old Pleasant Cemetery, Worcester Co., MA.⁵
     Adonijah Ball enlisted 10 July 1780 as a Private in Captain Ephraim Stearns Company in Col. John Rand's Regiment in Worcester Co. MA. He was discharged 10 November 1780.⁵

     Grace Cochran Ball was baptized on 18 August 1773.¹ She was the daughter of Moses Ball and Susannah Nutt.¹ Grace Cochran Ball married Nathan Cutting, son of Nathan Cutting, on 12 November 1799 at Athol, Worcester Co., MA.²

     Comment by DGB: Warren in his 1932 work made this Hannah the "widow Hannah Ball" that married Joseph Godard 3 May 1819 at Athol MA. It is more likely that the widow of Isaac Ball would stay with one of her children and there is no evidence that any of them moved back to MA. End of comment. As of 3 May 1778,her married name was Ball. There is a cemetery reference for Hannah with her husband Isaac Ball at Varney Cemetery, Bristol, Addison Co., VT.⁵

     Joseph Goddard married Hannah (????) on 3 May 1819 at Athol, Worcester Co., MA; "widow Hannah Ball."²

     Adonijah Ball was born on 20 November 1778 at Athol, Worcester Co., MA.² He was the son of Isaac Ball and Hannah Commings.¹ Adonijah Ball married Hannah Perry on 5 December 1799 at Randolph, Orange Co., VT.³ Adonijah Ball married Anna Gaston.⁴ Adonijah Ball married Frances Bruce on 18 January 1832.⁴ Adonijah Ball died in March 1841 at Kaskaskia, Randolph Co., IL, at age 62.^5,6 He was buried at Kaskaskia Cemetery, Kaskaskia, Randolph Co., IL.⁷
     Adonijah enlisted as a corporal in the 21st U.S. Infantry Regiment in Middlebury, Vermont on 9 February 1813. According to his military records, he was 5'10", blue-eyed, brown-haired, with a light complexion and a carpenter at the time of his enlistment. Adonijah participated in most of the major battles of the Canadian theatre, including the capture of York (now Toronto), the capture of Fort George and the Battle of Chrystler's Field in 1813, and the Battle of Chippewa, the Battle of Niagara (Lundy's Lane) and the Defense of Fort Erie in 1814. He was hospitalized in Buffalo, New York due to illness in August and September, 1814, later promoted to sergeant and discharged in Sackett's Harbour, New York on 24 May, 1815.⁴
