     Asel Franklin Ball was born on 21 September 1801 at Randolph, Orange Co., VT.² He was the son of Adonijah Ball and Hannah Perry.² Asel Franklin Ball married Rebecca Ellis, daughter of Jacob Ellis and Elizabeth Bird, on 24 February 1825 at Lewistown, Fulton Co., IL.² Asel Franklin Ball married Elizabeth Wilson on 2 September 1838 at Perry Co., IL.³ Asel Franklin Ball died on 26 July 1856 at Rockwood, Randolph Co., IL, at age 54.¹ He was buried at Ebenezer Memorial Cemetery, Rockwood, Randolph Co., IL.⁴
     On December 10, 1830, Asel F. Ball was commissioned a First Lieutenant of the Fulton County Battalion. He served as Captain of one company of 46 men in the Mounted Volunteers under the command of Brigadier General Stillman during the Black Hawk War. He enrolled at Lewistown, Illinois, on April 28, 1832, and was mustered out of service at the same location on June 25, 1832. During one of the skirmishes with Chief Black Hawk and a party of 40 Sauk braves the American forces were routed about 18 miles above the junction of the Rock River with the Mississippi River. One of three companies of the Mounted Odd Battalion suffered the loss of seven men killed and three wounded whereas the Indians lost seven braves.      Rebecca Ball was born on 28 February 1839 at Rockwood, Randolph Co., IL.¹ She was the daughter of Asel Franklin Ball and Elizabeth Wilson.¹ Rebecca Ball married Alexander Hindman on 5 March 1858 at Rockwood, Randolph Co., IL.¹ Rebecca Ball died on 19 November 1862 at Rockwood, Randolph Co., IL, at age 23.¹ She was buried at Hindman Cemetery, Rockwood, Randolph Co., IL.¹
     As of 5 March 1858,her married name was Hindman.

     Perry Columbus Ball was born on 14 January 1851 at Rockwood, Randolph Co., IL.¹ He was the son of Asel Franklin Ball and Elizabeth Wilson.^1,2 Perry Columbus Ball married Mary L. Ballantyne on 2 April 1884 at Groveland, McPherson Co., KS.¹ Perry Columbus Ball died on 13 November 1933 at Manzanola, Otero Co., CO, at age 82.¹ He was buried at Colorado Springs, El Paso Co., CO.¹

     Albert Thomas Ball was born on 29 May 1854 at Rockwood, Randolph Co., IL.¹ He was the son of Asel Franklin Ball and Elizabeth Wilson.^1,2 Albert Thomas Ball married Helena Johanna Muenchoff, daughter of Karl Muenchoff and Mary Elizabeth Linke, on 27 March 1887 at Groveland, McPherson Co., KS.¹ Albert Thomas Ball died on 16 August 1936 at Groveland, McPherson Co., KS, at age 82.¹ He was buried at Inman, McPherson Co., KS.¹

     Francis Marion Hindman was born on 20 September 1858 at Rockwood, Randolph Co., IL.¹ He was the son of Alexander Hindman and Rebecca Ball.¹ Francis Marion Hindman married Lavisa Wood on 10 November 1881 at Rockwood, Randolph Co., IL.¹ Francis Marion Hindman died on 23 February 1936 at Cess, Morton Co., KS, at age 77.¹
