Jube Henry Ball was born on 22 March 1843 at Holyoke, Hampden Co., MA.2 He was the son of Edwin Heman Ball and Eurydice Ely.1 Jube Henry Ball married Missouri Ellen Beck, daughter of Oliver Beck and Jemima South, on 20 November 1867.1 Jube Henry Ball married Adaline Clarrisa Smith, daughter of Herman Smith and Jane West, on 19 November 1885.1 Jube Henry Ball died on 22 November 1923 at Vinton, Benton Co., IA, at age 80.2 He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, Benton Co., IA.3
From an obituary: Following an operation a week ago last Monday at the Vinton hospital, J. H. Ball, 80, prominent citizen of Vinton and an old settler of Benton County, died at 8:00 p.m. yesterday. The past year Mr. Ball had been in failing health. Death was caused by a complication of ailments. J. H. Ball has been a resident of Benton County nearly sixty years. For a number of years he farmed his own place in Taylor township. Since retiring to Vinton Mr. Ball was interested in various enterprises. At the time of his death he was one of the large stockholders in the Iowa Canning Co.
Jube Henry Ball was born March 21, 1843 at Holyoke, Mass., a son of Edwin H. and Eurydice Ely Ball. He was reared at Holyoke and in 1862 enlisted as a soldier in Company B. 46th Massachusetts volunteer militia, at the age of eighteen years. He was in the service about nine months, participating in the battles of Kinston, White Hall and Goldsboro. Mr. Ball came to Iowa in the spring of 1864. Mr. Ball was married in Vinton to Miss Missouri E. Beck. The wife died in 1882 leaving four children. One child died in infancy. In 1885 Mr. Ball was again married to Mrs. Adelaine C. Allbright, who survives him. The two sons born to his union are dead. The surviving children are the three sons and a daughter by the first marriage as follows: Edwin H. Ball, Phoenix, Ariz; Mrs. Catherine Gallaher, Vinton; Wm. Ball, Chicago, and James Ball, LaGrange, Ill.2
