     He along with George Jones and Nathaniel Poor founded the firm of "Jones, Ball & Poor" in Boston from 1846 through about 1853. They retailed many items made out of "coin silver", such as tableware, teapots, water pitchers, wine coolers, etc., made for them by local silversmiths.
