     From an obituary: "Wilfred L. Ball died in the Veteran's Hospital in Rutland where he had been a patient for six weeks. He was born in Athol, Mass., son of Levi R. and Sarah (Kenney) Ball, and was a life long resident of this town (Athol). He was employed for many years by the Union Twist Drill Co. He enlisted in the World War and after going to Ft. Devens, was dispatched overseas May 1, 1918. He was in service in the Toul sector, St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne. He returned from service in May 1919. Besides his father, he leaves a wife, Hilda Lane Ball; a son Edward; two sisters Mrs. Gladys Seeley and Mrs. Madeline Peppard and a brother Gerald S. Ball, all of Athol."¹

     Maria Ann Armstrong Morton was born on 12 November 1814 at OH.^3,4 She was the daughter of Joseph Morton and Ann Armstrong.² Maria Ann Armstrong Morton married Danforth Ewers Ball, son of Benjamin Ball and Charlotte Ewers, on 13 August 1834 at Madisonville, Hamilton Co., OH.⁵ Maria Ann Armstrong Morton died on 4 September 1890 at age 75.⁴ She was buried at Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Franklin Co., OH.⁴
