     Irving O. Ball was born on 28 January 1865 at Block Island, Washington Co., RI.² He was the son of William Pitt Ball and Sarah E. Champlin.¹ Irving O. Ball married Caroline P. Briant, daughter of Nicholas Byram Briant and Eunice Munson Parsons, circa 1890.³ Irving O. Ball died on 31 January 1941 at Providence, Providence Co., RI, at age 76.⁴
     From the website "Streets of Washington": The first Hamilton was a genteel landmark at the end of the 19th century, noted for the easy leather chairs in its lobby and the sophistication of its residents. Many members of Congress stayed there and thus it was reportedly the "scene of much political gossip." In 1907 the hotel was sold to its long-time manager, Irving O. Ball, for $125,000. The neighborhood at that time was a growing center of social life and commerce. Plans were announced in 1911 to raze the hotel and replace it with a new eight-story edifice, to be designed by Appleton P. Clark. However, such a building was never constructed. Instead, it would be another eleven years before the 1877 building was razed and replaced. He and Caroline P.      Eugene Beckwith Ball was born on 3 June 1867 at RI.^3,2 He was the son of William Pitt Ball and Sarah E. Champlin.¹ Eugene Beckwith Ball married Elsie Redfern, daughter of James Redfern and Kate (????), circa 1913.^4,5 Eugene Beckwith Ball died on 30 January 1939 at age 71.⁴ He was buried at North Burial Ground, New Shoreham, Block Island, Washington Co., RI.²

     William Everett Ball was born in September 1877 at RI.² He was the son of William Pitt Ball and Sarah E. Champlin.¹ William Everett Ball married Ann Louise Coe, daughter of Duane Edward Coe and Sarah Rebecca Craig, say 1905.³

     Fenner Ball was born on 22 July 1879 at New Shoreham, Block Island, Washington Co., RI.^2,3 He was the son of William Pitt Ball and Sarah E. Champlin.¹ Fenner Ball married Alma R. Butler, daughter of Capt. Benjamin Butler and Lizzie L. (????), on 16 October 1901 at Providence, Providence Co., RI.⁴ Fenner Ball died on 31 July 1945 at Cranston, Providence Co., RI, at age 66.⁵ He was buried at North Burial Ground, Providence, Providence Co., RI.³

     Nancy JoAnne Luce is the daughter of Robert Walter Luce and Beatrice Isabella Schwalm.¹
