     Mary Hays was born circa 1809 at Butler Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph Hays and Hannah Ball.¹ Mary Hays married Joseph Kershner, son of John George Kershner and Margaret Flenner, on 5 September 1830 at Butler Co., OH.¹
     Comment by DGB: Some trees include a son Joseph b. c1849 in IN, but without evidence connecting him to Joseph and Mary (Hays) Kershner. Others give a death date for Mary (Hays) Kershner as 1 Nov 1844, again without evidence. Either may be correct, but not both. End of comment. As of 5 September 1830,her married name was Kershner.

     Hugh Cox was born on 22 May 1849 at Noble Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Hugh Cox and Allie (????)¹ Hugh Cox married Angeline Ball, daughter of James Ball and Ann Salladay.¹ Hugh Cox died on 31 January 1928 at Caldwell, Noble Co., OH, at age 78.¹ He was buried at Old Sarahsville Cemetery, Sarahsville, Noble Co., OH.¹

     Phebe Hays was born on 9 September 1810 at OH.³ She was the daughter of Joseph Hays and Hannah Ball.¹ Phebe Hays married Samuel Kershner on 15 March 1832 at Butler Co., OH.⁴ Phebe Hays married Andrew Conarrowe on 12 July 1836 at Clinton Co., IN.^5,6,7 Phebe Hays married Isaac A. Merrill, son of Adrian Merrill, on 29 May 1844 at Jefferson, Clinton Co., IN.⁸ Phebe Hays died on 30 December 1890 at Clinton Co., IN, at age 80.³ She was buried at Kilmore United Methodist Church Cemetery, Frankfort, Clinton Co., IN.⁶
     Comment by DGB: Some trees state her fourth and last husband was Samuel Merrill, but no confirmation of that has been found. End of comment.⁷ As of 15 March 1832,her married name was Kershner.⁴ As of 12 July 1836,her married name was Conarrowe. As of 29 May 1844,her married name was Merrill.
