     Comment by DGB: Her marriage record lists her as Sarah Hellen Meek, but the index to the births of her children, both to Seth Ball and to John Nyland, list her as Sarah Hellen Pierce. She was listed living with Seth Ball on the 1880 census as "Sarah Meek", so I am assuming that her maiden name was "Pierce" and she had an earlier marriage to a Mr. Meek. End of comment. Her married name was Meek. As of 6 January 1884,her married name was Ball.³ As of circa 1896,her married name was Nyland.⁴
