Hall.1 William Horace Ball married Lenora Roxy Van Buskirk, daughter of John Van Buskirk and Elizabeth Perry, on 15 December 1897 at Black River Falls, Jackson Co., WI.4,5 William Horace Ball died on 3 July 1916 at Beach, Golden Valley Co., ND, at age 39; There was a murder trial alleging that a stick of dynamite was used to blow up the worksite shed Mr. Ball was sleeping in, but the accused was acquitted due to lack of sufficient evidence. Mr. Ball's wife was rumored to have had a relationship with the accused, but chose to leave town rather than to testify at the trial and never disclosed what she may have known.6

Her early life was lavied inor near this community. On November 21st, 1900 she was married to Albert Ball at Cataract, where they made their home for a few years, while he worked as a stone mason. Later Mr. Ball farmed in the Daneville and Shamrock communities in Monroe County. To this couple were born seven children: Edith, Mrs. L. R. Hoard, Sparta; Henry, of Eagle, Wis; Edna, Mrs. Leslie Harper, of Melrose, Wis; William, Now of Whitehall, Wis; Spencer, now of Waukegan, Ill; Erma, Mrs. John Boris of Cataract, Wisconsin; Loren of Cataract, Wis. Mrs. Ball is survived by her husband and seven children named above; by 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Amanda, now Mrs. George Gillette of Warrens, Wis.6
