     He was lovingly known as "Uncle Pud."¹ From an obituary: DEATH: Mendon; William F. Larkin, 84, whose home was on North Summit Road, died in Miller's Merry Nursing Home in LaGrange, In., Friday. He had been a patient at the facility for three weeks and in failing health for several months. He was born in Fulton Jan. 31, 1887, the son of Allen and Emogene (Scott) Larkin. Mr. Larkin attended area schools. He was married to Fannie Simmons who preceded him in death in 1956. Mr. Larkin had been a painter and had resided in Fulton and Scotts for the last 35 years. Surviving are three sons, Donald, Three Rivers; Harvey, St. Petersburg, Fla; Elgin, Scotts; one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Meda) Miller, Battle Creek; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mable Russell. Burial will take place in Climax Cemetery.¹

     LaWave Hattie Mastin was born on 19 September 1918 at Climax, Kalamazoo Co., MI.¹ She was the daughter of Claud David Mastin and Emma A. Berger.¹ LaWave Hattie Mastin married Elgin Eldon Larkin, son of William Frederick Larkin and Fannie Pearl Simmons, on 15 May 1942 at Marshall, Calhoun Co., MI.¹ LaWave Hattie Mastin died on 29 June 2004 at Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Co., MI, at age 85.¹ She was buried on 2 July 2004 at Gilson Cemetery, Pavilion, Kalamazoo Co., MI.¹
     As of 15 May 1942,her married name was Larkin. From an obituary: Larkin, Mrs. LaWave H. Scotts died June 29, 2004 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. LaWave was born September 19, 1918 in Scotts, MI, the daughter of Claud and Emma (Berger) Mastin, and was a lifelong Scotts resident. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for several years as office manager for the C.L. Mahoney Company. LaWave was well known for her artistic creations, including china painting, doll making and folk art painting along with her husband Elgin, who helped with the wood cuttings. She would display her works for sale at Theo & Stacey's Restaurant along with a local consignment shop. On May 15, 1942, she was married to Elgin Larkin, who survives. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Larkin; by an infant daughter; her parents; and a sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Ben Cretsinger; and a sister, Agnes Mastin. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Rita (Michael) Keller and Dave (Nancy) Cretsinger, all of Kalamazoo, and Sharon (Donald) Nowak of Portage.¹

     Joseph Herald Miller was born on 23 March 1898 at Union, White Co., IN.¹ He was the son of Alfred Silas Miller and Adeline Dowell.¹ Joseph Herald Miller married Avis Althalia Lucille Fisher on 5 September 1916 at Monticello, Union, White Co., IN.¹ Joseph Herald Miller and Avis Althalia Lucille Fisher were divorced.¹ Joseph Herald Miller married Meda Emogene Larkin, daughter of William Frederick Larkin and Fannie Pearl Simmons, on 29 November 1941 at Union, White Co., IN.¹ Joseph Herald Miller died on 18 September 1976 at Springfield, Battle Creek, Calhoun Co., MI, at age 78.¹ He was buried at Gilson Cemetery, Pavilion, Kalamazoo Co., MI.¹

Larkin, son of William Frederick Larkin and Fannie Pearl Simmons, on 26 June 1936 at Grand Rapids, Kent Co., MI.¹ Kathryn Stirdivant died in 2001 at St. Petersburg, Pinellas Co., FL.¹ She was buried at St. Petersburg, Pinellas Co., FL.¹

Boyd died on 14 September 1946 at Battle Creek, Calhoun Co., MI, at age 82.¹ She was buried at Boyd Cemetery, Mecosta Co., MI.¹

     Mercil Mary Simmons was born on 6 January 1921 at Kalamazoo Co., MI.¹ She was the daughter of Clare Albert Simmons and Ethel Belle Gilbert.¹ Mercil Mary Simmons died on 11 February 2006 at Kalamazoo Co., MI, at age 85.¹ She was buried at Vicksburg Cemetery, Kalamazoo Co., MI.¹

Mercil was born January 6, 1921 in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Clare and Ethel Belle (Gilbert) Simmons and was a lifelong Kalamazoo resident. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and from Parson's Business College with a degree in accounting. Prior to her retirement she was employed for 70 years for Farmers Chemical/Kalsec where she was an accountant. Mercil grew up on a farm and enjoyed fishing and flower gardening. She was a people person and especially enjoyed the companionship she had with her fellow workers at Kalsec. Surviving are nephews and nieces, Miles and Jackie Helmer of Kalamazoo, Jay Simmons of Richland and many other nieces and nephews; also a special lifelong friend Paul Todd, Jr. and special friend Mark Hoffman. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Kenneth Helmer and Verl Simmons.¹

     Lillah Naomi Woodhams was born on 12 February 1929 at Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Co., MI.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Oliver Woodhams and Martha Preston.¹ Lillah Naomi Woodhams married Verl Clare Simmons, son of Clare Albert Simmons and Ethel Belle Gilbert, on 20 January 1951 at Kalamazoo Co., MI.¹ Lillah Naomi Woodhams died on 7 February 2000 at Galesburg, Kalamazoo Co., MI, at age 70.¹ She was buried on 11 February 2000 at Riverside Cemetery, Kalamazoo Co., MI.¹

     Verl Clare Simmons was born on 25 April 1919 at Kalamazoo Co., MI.¹ He was the son of Clare Albert Simmons and Ethel Belle Gilbert.¹ Verl Clare Simmons married Lillah Naomi Woodhams, daughter of Charles Oliver Woodhams and Martha Preston, on 20 January 1951 at Kalamazoo Co., MI.¹ Verl Clare Simmons died on 7 June 1977 at Galesburg, Kalamazoo Co., MI, at age 58.¹ He was buried at Riverside Cemetery, Kalamazoo Co., MI.¹
     From an obituary in the "Kalamazoo Gazette": Mr. Verl C. Simmons - 10995 Miller Dr., Galesburg, passed away June 7, 1977, at Borgess Hospital where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. Mr. Simmons was born in Kalamazoo, April 25, 1919, and had resided in Galesburg since 1958. He had been employed by the Pepsi Cola Co. as a mechanic and was a member of the Comstock VFW post 6252 and Dads of Veterans. Surviving are his wife, the former Lillah N. Woodhams; 2 sons, Jay V. Simmons of Kalamazoo and Verl C. Simmons Jr. of Augusta; 4 daughters, Mrs. Ruth Srackangast of Texas, Mrs. Ronald (Karen) Sherill of Kalamazoo, Miss Carol Simmons of Wisconsin, Mrs. Dale (Mary) Selbee of Galesburg; nine grandchildren; one sister, Miss Mercil Simmons of Kalamazoo.¹

     Kenneth Helmer was born circa 1910 at Kalamazoo Co., MI.¹ He was the son of (????) Helmer and Ethel Belle Gilbert.¹
     Kenneth Helmer was possibly the son of Ethel and her first marriage to (___) Helmer. He is not listed as a step child so perhaps he was adopted by Clair after his marriage to his mother Ethel. He was born before the death of Clair's first wife and her obituary does not mention any children. Kenneth predeceased his sister Mercil who died in 2000.¹

     Minora Masters was born circa 1873 at IL.¹ She married Cornelius Stirdivant.¹
