     He was lovingly known as "Uncle Pud."1 From an obituary: DEATH: Mendon; William F. Larkin, 84, whose home was on North Summit Road, died in Miller's Merry Nursing Home in LaGrange, In., Friday. He had been a patient at the facility for three weeks and in failing health for several months. He was born in Fulton Jan. 31, 1887, the son of Allen and Emogene (Scott) Larkin. Mr. Larkin attended area schools. He was married to Fannie Simmons who preceded him in death in 1956. Mr. Larkin had been a painter and had resided in Fulton and Scotts for the last 35 years. Surviving are three sons, Donald, Three Rivers; Harvey, St. Petersburg, Fla; Elgin, Scotts; one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Meda) Miller, Battle Creek; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mable Russell. Burial will take place in Climax Cemetery.1

     As of 15 May 1942,her married name was Larkin. From an obituary: Larkin, Mrs. LaWave H. Scotts died June 29, 2004 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. LaWave was born September 19, 1918 in Scotts, MI, the daughter of Claud and Emma (Berger) Mastin, and was a lifelong Scotts resident. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for several years as office manager for the C.L. Mahoney Company. LaWave was well known for her artistic creations, including china painting, doll making and folk art painting along with her husband Elgin, who helped with the wood cuttings. She would display her works for sale at Theo & Stacey's Restaurant along with a local consignment shop. On May 15, 1942, she was married to Elgin Larkin, who survives. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Larkin; by an infant daughter; her parents; and a sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Ben Cretsinger; and a sister, Agnes Mastin. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Rita (Michael) Keller and Dave (Nancy) Cretsinger, all of Kalamazoo, and Sharon (Donald) Nowak of Portage.1

She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and from Parson's Business College with a degree in accounting. Prior to her retirement she was employed for 70 years for Farmers Chemical/Kalsec where she was an accountant. Mercil grew up on a farm and enjoyed fishing and flower gardening. She was a people person and especially enjoyed the companionship she had with her fellow workers at Kalsec. Surviving are nephews and nieces, Miles and Jackie Helmer of Kalamazoo, Jay Simmons of Richland and many other nieces and nephews; also a special lifelong friend Paul Todd, Jr. and special friend Mark Hoffman. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Kenneth Helmer and Verl Simmons.1
