Sweetser died at the residence of her daughter in Cleveland on Tuesday after a brief illness of paralysis. She was born in New York City, emigrated to the West with her parents in 1817 and after a residence of some four years in Indiana came to this place in 1820, where she has ever since resided. In 1824 she was married to Milo D. Pettibone, a prominent member of the bar, who at his death left 8 children, 4 sons and 4 daughters, 5 of whom are still living - Mrs. I. J. Richardson, of this city; Mr. D. Pettibone, Mrs. G. W. Little and Mrs. C. H. Clark of Cleveland, and Mrs. L. H. Lee of Springfield. In 1846 she married the late Hon. Charles Sweetser, the only surviving child of this union is Mrs. Francis Morse of Wabash, Indiana, a son having died at anearly age. She was about 72 years of age, and at the time of her death was visiting relatives in Cleveland. The funeral will take place from the family residence, corner of Main & North Streets.⁴
