     John Ball died on 1 November 1655 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA.¹
     He Comment by DGB: By some earlier researchers it was said he was born in England in 1595 and settled in Watertown, where he was made a freeman May 22, 1650 and he later removed to Concord where he lived until he died. Some early researchers stated his wife was Joanna King or possibly Elizabeth Webb, but there is no hard evidence to support this. There are also various comments made about how early he arrived in America. Early researchers thought that he was the father of both John Ball of Watertown and Nathaniel Ball of Concord. He may have been the father of one, but according to yDNA testing of descendants, not both. End of comment.

     John Ball was born circa 1620 at England.¹ He married first Elizabeth Pierce, daughter of John Pierce and Elizabeth Trull.¹ John Ball married second Elizabeth Fox, daughter of Thomas Fox, on 3 October 1665 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA; "3 of the 8 mo."² John Ball died on 10 February 1676 at Lancaster, Worcester Co., MA.³
     He Comment by DGB: There is a comment in the will of John Ball's mother-in-law that refers to her son-in-law as "John Ball Jr.", implying that his father was also named John Ball. End of comment.⁴ He Comment by DGB: According to yDNA testing of descendants of this John Ball of Watertown and Nathaniel Ball of Concord, they were not related. They had been recorded as brothers in genealogies as early as Farmer's work in 1829. End of comment. About the year 1655-6, his wife became violently insane, which fact doubtless accounts for the apprenticing of the children.¹ He sold his farm in Watertown 21 October 1665 and moved to Lancaster, Worcester Co., MA, where he was one of the three earliest settlers.¹ John Ball, his wife, and son Joseph were slain in the attack upon the town (Lancaster) by Indians and two other children were taken into captivity (Esther, Abigail).^1,3

     Nathaniel Ball was born circa 1625 at England.¹ He married Mary (????) circa 1648.¹ Nathaniel Ball married Margery Knight on 7 February 1670.¹ Nathaniel Ball died on 14 January 1705/6 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA; "ye husband of Margery his wife."²
     Comment by DGB: According to yDNA testing of descendants of this Nathaniel Ball of Concord and John Ball of Watertown, they were not related. They had been recorded as brothers in genealogies as early as Farmer's work in 1829. End of comment. He acquired 137 additional acres on the Bedford road, within the present limits of Bedford.¹ In his will, dated 13 April 1657 (with codicil dated 28 April 1657) and proved 23 June 1657, Ralph Mousall of Charlestown bequeathed "to my son John Mousall £200 whereof I have given him already £140, the other £60 to be paid him after the decease of my wife Ales Mousall," these payments to be in land; to "my son Thomas the house he doth now dwell in and yards & backsides"; to "my daughters Elizabeth Mousall and to Mary Mousall," £3 apiece; to "my brother John Mousall" 20s; to "my daughter Ruth Wood" £20; to "my daughter Mary Gove £15 at age eighteen"; to "my cousin Nathaniell Ball and to my cousin Mary Waine" £4 apiece; to Thomas Osbourne 40s; to William Crouch 40s; to William Streeter 20s; to Wi dow Stubs 30s; to "my dear friend and countrywoman Mrs. Greene" 20s; to "my dear and loving wife Ales Mousall" all lands for life and then to my two sons, she to be executrix and residuary legatee; to "loving friends Mr. Richard Russell, Thomas Linde and Robert Hale, overseers"; to Robert Hale £5. In the codicil of 28 April 1657 Mousall stated that "God having by his good grace given to my son Thomas Mousall a young son" I bequeath him £50 at age 20"
     Comment by DGB: The daughters mentioned were actually his daughters-in-law; Mary Gove was his ward and under 18. The rest of the sentence would imply that neither Mary Gove nor Mary Wayne were the wife of Nathaniel Ball Sr., so I am not sure who Nathaniel's wife might have been, but it was not a daughter of Ralph Mousall. End of comment.³ Testified that he was age 75 and that he worked for Abraham Hill 59 years previous.⁴

     John Ball was born circa 1644 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA.¹ He was the son of John Ball and Elizabeth Pierce.¹ John Ball married Sarah Bullard, daughter of George Bullard and Beatrice (????), on 17 October 1665 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA; "17 (8) mo."² John Ball died on 8 May 1722 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA.³
     He apprenticed to John Pierce Sr. on 3 January 1656.¹

     Mary Ball was born circa 1651.¹ She was the daughter of John Ball and Elizabeth Pierce.¹ Mary Ball married William Munroe circa 1672.²
     Mary Ball apprenticed to John Pierce Sr., her maternal grandfather. About age 16 after the death of her grandparents Mary was "put out to service" to a Woburn MA family of Michael and Sarah Bacon on 3 January 1656.^1,3 Mary Ball circa 1670 became pregnant by Michael Bacon Jr. while in service to his family.³ As of circa 1672,her married name was Munroe.²

     Sarah Ball was born circa 1654.¹ She was the daughter of John Ball and Elizabeth Pierce.¹
     Sarah Ball apprenticed aged 2 years to Richard Gale. on 9 December 1656.¹

     Esther Ball was born circa 1655.¹ She was the daughter of John Ball and Elizabeth Pierce.¹
     Esther Ball apprenticed aged 3 years to Joseph Morse for a term of two years on 3 August 1658.¹ She and Abigail Ball were taken into captivity by Indians. on 20 February 1676 at Lancaster, Worcester Co., MA.^1,2

     Abigail Ball was born on 20 April 1658 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA; "20 of ye 2d mo."² She was the daughter of John Ball and Elizabeth Pierce.¹
     Abigail Ball apprenticed aged 6 months to Anthony White on 3 August 1658.¹ She and Esther Ball were taken into captivity by Indians. on 20 February 1676 at Lancaster, Worcester Co., MA.^1,3

     Joseph Ball was born on 12 March 1669/70 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA.² He was the son of John Ball and Elizabeth Fox.¹ Joseph Ball died on 10 February 1676 at Lancaster, Worcester Co., MA, at age 5; slain in an Indian attack.³

     John Ball was born circa 1649. He was the son of Nathaniel Ball and Mary (????)¹ John Ball died in 1649 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA; "27 (5) mo : 1649"; not clear whether the calendar for the recorder began in January or March.²

     Nathaniel Ball was born on 28 July 1649 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA.² He was the son of Nathaniel Ball and Mary (????)¹ Nathaniel Ball died in 1649 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA; "23 (10) mo : 1649"; not clear whether the calendar for the recorder began in January or March.²

     Ebenezer Ball was born circa 1653.² He was the son of Nathaniel Ball and Mary (????)¹

     Eleazer Ball was born circa 1650; age at death 48y.² He was the son of Nathaniel Ball and Mary (????)¹ Eleazer Ball married Priscilla Wood on 25 September 1675 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA; "Presillar Wood", however, the county record says "Woodward."³ Eleazer Ball married Sarah Merriam, daughter of Joseph Merriam and Sarah Stone, on 14 June 1688 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA; also recorded at Cambridge, Middlesex Co., MA.^4,5 Eleazer Ball died on 15 November 1698 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA.²

     John Ball was born on 15 August 1660 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA; "John Balle."² He was the son of Nathaniel Ball and Mary (????)¹ John Ball married Martha Bignall in 1682 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA; "29 of 9th month."³ John Ball married Hannah Rugg, daughter of John Rugg and Hannah Prescott, on 16 October 1690 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA.⁴ John Ball died on 27 November 1703 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA, at age 43.⁵

     Nathaniel Ball was born on 5 July 1663.¹ He was the son of Nathaniel Ball and Mary (????)¹ Nathaniel Ball married Mary Brooks, daughter of Caleb Brooks and Susan Atkinson, on 19 April 1688 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA.² Nathaniel Ball died on 4 March 1724/25 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA, at age 61.³ He was buried at Old Hill Burying Ground, Concord, Middlesex Co., MA.⁴

     Hannah Ball was born on 22 January 1665 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA.² She was the daughter of Nathaniel Ball and Mary (????)¹ Hannah Ball married John Whittaker in December 1705 at Concord, Middlesex Co., MA.³
     As of 12 December 1705,her married name was Whittaker.¹

     Sarah Ball was born on 11 July 1666 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA; "Sary."² She was the daughter of John Ball and Sarah Bullard.¹ Sarah Ball married Allen Flagg, son of Thomas Flagg and Mary (????), on 12 March 1684/85 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA; "Alen Fleg and Sary Ball."³
     As of 12 March 1684,her married name was Flagg. Administration of Allen Flagg's estate granted his widow on 28 November 1711. Inventory was 11 Nov 1711 and included homestead 34 acres £68 and outland 24 acres £24.⁴

     John Ball was born on 29 June 1668 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA; "John Baall."² He was the son of John Ball and Sarah Bullard.¹ John Ball married Bethiah Medap, daughter of Daniel Mettup and Bethia Beers, on 27 September 1699 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA.³ John Ball married Mary (????)⁴ John Ball died on 24 October 1752 at Waltham, Middlesex Co., MA, at age 84.⁵

     James Ball was born on 7 March 1670/71 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA.² He was the son of John Ball and Sarah Bullard.¹ James Ball married Elizabeth Fiske on 16 January 1693/94.¹ James Ball died on 24 February 1729/30 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA, at age 58.³

     Joseph Ball was born on 4 May 1674 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA.² He was the son of John Ball and Sarah Bullard.¹ Joseph Ball married Elizabeth Parkhurst on 31 December 1701 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA.³ Joseph Ball died on 12 April 1730 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA, at age 55.⁴
     He left a will in 1730; proved.

     Jonathan Ball was born on 29 March 1680 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA.² He was the son of John Ball and Sarah Bullard.¹ Jonathan Ball married Sarah Whitney on 5 January 1709/10 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA.³ Jonathan Ball died circa 1726.¹
     He resided in Watertown and later in Lancaster, in that part later set off to Boylston.¹ After his death his children were brought up by relatives.¹

     Daniel Ball was born on 2 August 1683 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA; "Daniel Baal."² He was the son of John Ball and Sarah Bullard.¹ Daniel Ball married Mary Earl on 10 November 1708 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA.³ Daniel Ball died on 9 March 1717/18 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA, at age 34; "Daniel Bael."^4,5

     Abigail Ball was born on 5 October 1686 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA.² She was the daughter of John Ball and Sarah Bullard.¹ Abigail Ball was baptized on 10 July 1687 at Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA.³

     Elizabeth Pierce was baptized on 11 April 1624 at St. Edmund's Church, Norwich, District of Norfolk, England.² She was the daughter of John Pierce and Elizabeth Trull.¹ Elizabeth Pierce married John Ball.¹ Elizabeth Pierce died before October 1665.³
     Her married name was Ball.¹
