McCroskey married Sylvanus Mathewson Ball, son of Ebenezer Lewis Ball and Abigail Jane Mathewson, on 4 July 1871 at Cleveland, Bradley Co., TN.¹ Rachel C. McCroskey died on 12 November 1885 at Concord, TN, at age 42.¹ She was buried at Alder Branch Cemetery, Sevier Co., TN.¹
