Mary A. Dodge1
F, #31619, b. May 1854, d. 23 December 1920
Mary A. Dodge was born in May 1854 at Conneaut, Ashtabula Co., OH.2,3 She was the daughter of James Dodge and Hester Guthrie.3 Mary A. Dodge married Nelson Horatio Ball, son of Nelson H. Ball and Nancy Harriett Dodge, on 8 January 1877 at Cheboygan Co., MI.1 Mary A. Dodge died on 23 December 1920 at Conneaut, Ashtabula Co., OH, at age 66.3
As of 8 January 1877,her married name was Ball.1 From an obituary in the "Cheboygan Democrat": Mrs Nelson H. Ball died at her home at Conneaut, Ohio on Dec. 23rd after a considerable illness, dating back principally from a stroke of paralysis that attacked her four years ago. From that time to date she had suffered four strokes, every one of which left her in a weaker condition and made it positive to her family that the end might come at any moment. The funeral was held in Conneaut and interment made there, although the remains of Mr Ball who died at his Aloha home about 21 years ago were laid at rest in the Aloha cemetery. Mrs. Ball was born at Conneaut 67 years ago and taught school for awhile at the Mullet Lake school. She was united in marriage to Mr. Ball 43 years ago last January by Judge Maulbey, Justices of the Peace being more plentiful in this country those days than preachers. To Mr. and Mrs. Ball all two children survive, namely Mrs Nellie Scott of Aloha and Norman H. Ball of Conneaut. Mrs. Ball moved back to the Ohio city eighteen years ago.3
