     He served in the Civil War and his record included: served in First Louisiana Washington Artillery Regiment and paroled at Lee's Surrender. He received the Southern Cross of Honor, a medal awarded by The United Daughters of the Confederacy to ex-Confederate soldiers who were members of the United Confederate Veterans in recognition of their devotion to the southern cause.7
