Comment by DGB: There was a marriage between Horace H. Willsie and Betsey A. Nichols recorded 5 June 1855 at Galesburg, Knox Co., IL that has been suggested as being for Horace N. Wilsey of Pennsylvania. However, that Horace H. Willsie was born in Canada and was still living with his wife Bestey and their children in Galeburg for the 1880 census. End of comment. He served in the Civil War and enlisted on 18 January 1864 at Albion, Jackson Co., WI. His Civil War record included: served in the 6th District, 4th Regiment of the Wisconsin Calvary. Horace was age 25 years, 10 months and had blue eyes, brown hair, light complexion, and was 5 ft 11 inches tall. He was absent sick May through Aug of 1865 at West Point, Mississippi. He was on the muster-out roll for Brownsville TX May 28, 1865 and mustered out at Madison, Wisc. July 8, 1865.1
