     Dr. George M. Stuart was born on 5 July 1851 at Braemar, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.¹ He was the son of Charles Stuart and Jean MacIntosh.¹ Dr. George M. Stuart married Minnie R Ball, daughter of James M. Ball and Julia Etta Noe, on 27 June 1906 at Sarpy Co., NE; From their marriage certificate: "On the 27 day of June AD 1906 Minnie Ball and George Stuart in the presence of Mr. & Mrs. E. Armstrong residing in the County of Sarpy, State of Nebraska and Ila Downs residing in the County of Sarpy and state of Nebraska. Witness my Hand this 29 day of June AD 1906. signed Eld. J. A. Downs Advent Christian Pastor."² Dr. George M. Stuart died on 11 November 1918 at Springfield, Sarpy Co., NE, at age 67.³ He was buried on 14 November 1918 at Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, Sarpy Co., NE.¹

     Lulu Louise Marsh was born on 4 May 1874 at Platford, Sarpy Co., NE.^1,3 She was the daughter of George F. Marsh and Samantha Fackler.^3,2 Lulu Louise Marsh married Ulysses L. Bostder circa 1894.^2,4 Lulu Louise Marsh married Asa V. Ball, son of James M. Ball and Julia Etta Noe, on 25 June 1908 at Springfield, Sarpy Co., NE.⁵ Lulu Louise Marsh died on 2 February 1959 at Los Angeles Co., CA, at age 84.³ She was buried at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, Los Angeles Co., CA.²
     As of circa 1894,her married name was Bostder.^2,4 As of 25 June 1908,her married name was Ball.¹

     Bessie Olive Hubbard was born on 8 February 1886 at Glenwood, Mills Co., IA.¹ She married Lester Melvern Ball, son of James M. Ball and Julia Etta Noe, on 14 September 1904 at Omaha, Douglas Co., NE.¹ Bessie Olive Hubbard died on 21 August 1963 at Lincoln, Lancaster Co., NE, at age 77.² She was buried at Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, Sarpy Co., NE.¹
     As of 14 September 1904,her married name was Ball.¹

     Marjorie Ball was born on 22 February 1922 at Hastings, Adams Co., NE.^1,2 She was the daughter of Lester Melvern Ball and Bessie Olive Hubbard.¹ Marjorie Ball died in November 1985 at age 63.²

     James Rose Ball was born on 5 September 1781 at Block Island, Washington Co., RI; age at death from his gravestone is difficult to read, but might be 75y 10m 6d, which would be 6 Sep 1781.^1,2,3 He was the son of Edward Ball and Fear Young.¹ James Rose Ball married (unknown) (????) circa 1802 at VT.¹ James Rose Ball married Elizabeth Ewer circa 1806; Comment by DGB: The year date of 1806 was clearly written into the Bible record later than the writing of their names and the lack of day and month would suggest that the writer was not certain of the actual date, including the year. It is possible that the marriage could have been earlier or later than 1806. End of comment.² James Rose Ball died on 12 July 1857 at Batavia, Kane Co., IL, at age 75.^1,2 He was buried at East Batavia Cemetery, Batavia, Kane Co., IL.¹

     Elizabeth Ewer was born on 12 August 1791 at MA.^1,2 She married James Rose Ball, son of Edward Ball and Fear Young, circa 1806; Comment by DGB: The year date of 1806 was clearly written into the Bible record later than the writing of their names and the lack of day and month would suggest that the writer was not certain of the actual date, including the year. It is possible that the marriage could have been earlier or later than 1806. End of comment.¹ Elizabeth Ewer died on 22 June 1877 at Batavia, Kane Co., IL, at age 85; Comment by DGB: Her gravestone shows 22 June, but Perlina's Bible shows 23 June. End of comment.^3,1 She was buried at East Batavia Cemetery, Batavia, Kane Co., IL; next to her husband.³
     As of circa 1806,her married name was Ball.

     Archibald D. Ball was born on 13 March 1804 at Fair Haven, Rutland Co., VT.² He was the son of James Rose Ball and (unknown) (????)¹ Archibald D. Ball married Adeline Wood on 13 September 1828 at Elgin, Kane Co., IL.^1,3 Archibald D. Ball married Mary Jane Hyde on 29 September 1841 at Elgin, Kane Co., IL.^1,3 Archibald D. Ball died on 17 April 1892 at Elgin, Kane Co., IL, at age 88.¹ He was buried on 18 April 1892 at Channing Street Cemetery, Elgin, Kane Co., IL.² He was disinterred and re-buried in 1913 at Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin, Kane Co., IL.²
     From an obituary in "The Elgin Daily Courier" (Illinois): “Archibald D. Ball died at the home of his daughter in this city on Sunday of general disabilities, aged 88 years. He was born at Fairhaven, Vermont on March 13, 1804 and had lived here forty-seven years. For a short time lately he resided with relative at Batavia. Mrs. John Guilfoil of this city and Mrs. Clarence Lewis, now of La Grande Oregon are his daughters. The funeral occurred today at the First M.E. Church.”.⁴ From an obituary in the "Elgin Advocate" (Illinois): "Archibald D. Ball passed away Sunday morning at 11:03 o'clock, of paralysis and general disability, aged 88 years, l month, and 4 days. His first stroke of paralysis came in 1881; the third five weeks ago Monday. Mr. Ball was born at Fairhaven, Vermont and came west forty years ago, first living at Batavia. Thirty five years ago he located in Elgin, and was for many years in the employ of the city, until incapacitated for work. He was respected by all. Death removes from our midst an upright man and a good husband and father. Twice he was married in 1828 to Adeline Wood, and in 1841 to Mary Jane Hyde. Both are dead. Two children, Mrs. J. C. Guilfoil of 226 Villa Street, and Mrs. Clarence Lewis of La Grande, Oregon survive. A few weeks ago shortly after sustaining the third stroke, Mr. Ball was brought to his daughter's from a nephew's at Batavia, with whom he had lived nearly two years.      Alvin Ball was born on 27 October 1807 at Mendon, Monroe Co., NY.² He was the son of James Rose Ball and Elizabeth Ewer.¹ Alvin Ball married Eunice F. Selfridge on 28 February 1833 at Freedom, Cattaraugus Co., NY.¹ Alvin Ball died on 2 April 1890 at Springfield, Sarpy Co., NE, at age 82.¹ He was buried at Ball Cemetery, Springfield, Sarpy Co., NE.¹
     From an obituary: "Died at the residence of J. R. Ball in Plattford Precinct, on Thursday April 3, 1890, Alvin Ball at the advanced age of 82 years. The immediate cause of his death was pneumonia. Mr. Ball was born in Monroe County, New York, 26 Sep 1807 and emigrated to Illinois in 1838. He was the eldest of a family of eleven children, only five of whom survive him. He was married 28 Feb 1828 to Emma Selfridge and to them were born nine children, 8 sons and 1 daughter, four of whom are now living. He moved to this state in 1872 and since then has been engaged in farming a greater part of the time. His wife died 19 Aug 1874 and he has made his home since that time with his son James R. Ball.      Silas Sanford Ball was born on 17 January 1833 at Freedom, Cattaraugus Co., NY.¹ He was the son of James Rose Ball and Elizabeth Ewer.¹ Silas Sanford Ball married Charlotte Adair, daughter of Morris Adair and Abigail Foster, on 18 March 1857 at Ottawa, La Salle Co., IL.¹ Silas Sanford Ball married Clara Ella Cochran, daughter of Robert Cochran and Mary Adair, on 5 June 1882 at Omaha, Douglas Co., NE.¹ Silas Sanford Ball died on 17 October 1915 at Alameda, Alameda Co., CA, at age 82.¹

     Marlboro Payne Ball was born on 6 January 1779 at Block Island, Washington Co., RI.¹ He was the son of Edward Ball and Fear Young.¹ Marlboro Payne Ball married Rachel Varney on 27 May 1800 at Queensbury, Warren Co., NY.¹ Marlboro Payne Ball died on 30 October 1850 at Luzerne, Warren Co., NY, at age 71.¹ He was buried at Hartman Hill Cemetery, Warren Co., NY.²
     He and Rachel Varney were "received upon request" at the Quaker Monthly Meeting (i.e., as new members with no past affiliation) on 1 April 1813 at Queensbury, Warren Co., NY.³

     Gideon Olin Ball was born circa 1784 at Block Island, Washington Co., RI.¹ He was the son of Edward Ball and Fear Young.¹ Gideon Olin Ball married Polly Still say 1808.² Gideon Olin Ball died on 21 May 1854.³ He was buried at Pioneer Cemetery, Fredonia, Chautauqua Co., NY.³

     Samuel Ball was born on 23 November 1811 at Mendon, Monroe Co., NY.¹ He was the son of James Rose Ball and Elizabeth Ewer.¹ Samuel Ball married Lorain Darling on 29 November 1841 at Kane Co., IL.¹ Samuel Ball died on 30 December 1876 at age 65.²
     Comment by DGB: The censuses do not provide a clear picture of this family. Samuel is not with his wife and 9 year old daughter for the 1850 census in Batavia IL (perhaps he was off finding a better place to move to). Then in 1860 Samuel and Lorain are probably the couple in Concord IA, but there is no clue given as to who the two 11 year olds (James b. MI and Nancy b. TN, so not likely to be siblings) might be. In 1870, both Samuel and Lorain are still in Concord IA, but with two new children: Ottilie b. IA c1858 (but was not in the 1860 census) and Loraine b. MI c1862. By the 1880 census Samuel had died and Lorain is still in Concord IA living by herself. My guess is that only Mary, if any, of the children were born to Lorain and Samuel and the rest were some sort of foster children or adopted children. End of comment.

     Mary Ball was born on 27 June 1816 at Mendon, Monroe Co., NY.¹ She was the daughter of James Rose Ball and Elizabeth Ewer.¹ Mary Ball married Alvin Vanduser, son of Henry Vandusen, circa 1835 at Freedom, Cattaraugus Co., NY.¹ Mary Ball died on 30 July 1886 at age 70.² She was buried at East Batavia Cemetery, Batavia, Kane Co., IL.²
     As of circa 1835,her married name was Vanduser.

     Laura Ball was born on 23 March 1820 at Mendon, Monroe Co., NY.¹ She was the daughter of James Rose Ball and Elizabeth Ewer.¹ Laura Ball married Jerome Wylie Selfridge, son of John Selfridge and Sally G. Smith.² Laura Ball died on 13 February 1888 at age 67.² She was buried at Warrenville Cemetery, Warrenville, DuPage Co., IL.²
     Her married name was Selfridge.²

     Norman Ball was born on 6 April 1822 at Mendon, Monroe Co., NY.¹ He was the son of James Rose Ball and Elizabeth Ewer.¹
     Comment by DGB: Some have proposed that Norman lived in WI, but the family on the 1870 census for Trimbelle, Pierce Co., WI is clearly "Norman Bull" with wife Eliza and children Adelia and Windfield. End of comment.

     Sophronia Ball was born on 27 April 1824 at Mendon, Monroe Co., NY.¹ She was the daughter of James Rose Ball and Elizabeth Ewer.¹

     Alfred Ball was born on 22 July 1826 at Freedom, Cattaraugus Co., NY.¹ He was the son of James Rose Ball and Elizabeth Ewer.¹ Alfred Ball married Malinda Gould on 7 August 1849 at DuPage Co., IL.¹ Alfred Ball married Mary (????)²

     Perlina Ball was born on 22 February 1829 at Freedom, Cattaraugus Co., NY.^1,2 She was the daughter of James Rose Ball and Elizabeth Ewer.¹ Perlina Ball married John Marsh on 29 September 1847 at DuPage Co., IL; "Perlinia."^2,3 Perlina Ball married Richard Ough, son of Richard Ough and Mary Ann Crocker, on 24 December 1857; "Paulina."² Perlina Ball died on 10 May 1892 at La Moille, IL, at age 63; "Paulina."^2,3 She was buried at Greenfield Cemetery, La Moille, Bureau Co., IL; "Paulina."³

     Mary Jane Hyde was born on 21 April 1824 at NY.^2,3 She married Archibald D. Ball, son of James Rose Ball and (unknown) (????), on 29 September 1841 at Elgin, Kane Co., IL.^1,3 Mary Jane Hyde died on 24 July 1881 at Elgin, Kane Co., IL, at age 57.³

     Helen Jane Ball was born on 14 July 1845 at Batavia, Kane Co., IL.² She was the daughter of Archibald D. Ball and Mary Jane Hyde.³ Helen Jane Ball married John Charles Guilfoil on 4 July 1866 at Elgin, Kane Co., IL.^4,5 Helen Jane Ball died on 22 May 1920 at Wheaton, DuPage Co., IL, at age 74.⁵

Ball and Mary Jane Hyde.¹ Ida Alice Ball married Clarence Nicholas Lewis, son of George Washington Lewis and Lavinia Bishop, on 13 August 1871 at Kane Co., IL.³ Ida Alice Ball died on 11 March 1905 at Hilgard, Union Co., OR, at age 53.¹ She was buried on 14 March 1905 at LaGrande, Union Co., OR.¹

Selfridge was born on 17 January 1814 at Washington Co., NY.¹ She married Alvin Ball, son of James Rose Ball and Elizabeth Ewer, on 28 February 1833 at Freedom, Cattaraugus Co., NY.¹ Eunice F. Selfridge died on 19 August 1871 at Springfield, Sarpy Co., NE, at age 57.¹ She was buried on 22 August 1871 at Ball Cemetery, Springfield, Sarpy Co., NE.¹
     As of 28 February 1833,her married name was Ball.¹

     James Robert Ball was born on 12 December 1833 at Freedom, Cattaraugus Co., NY.¹ He was the son of Alvin Ball and Eunice F. Selfridge.¹ James Robert Ball married Roxanna Wooley, daughter of Robert Wooley, on 16 June 1858 at Batavia, Kane Co., IL.¹ James Robert Ball died on 10 February 1911 at Hubbard, Marion Co., OR, at age 77.¹ He was buried on 13 February 1911 at IOOF Cemetery, Aurora, Marion Co., OR.¹
