He spent his early life in the Blencoe area. On December 1, 1934, he was united in marriage with Mabel Dinwiddie at LeMars, Iowa. To this union two children were born. He has made his home in Onawa for the past 37 years. George served as a mechanic for the John Deere company, at the time of his passing, he was employed by the Heisterkamp Equipment Company. During World War II he answered the call of our country and served in the United States Navy. George was a very active member of the First Christian Church of Onawa; having served on the church board as a deacon, then an elder, he taught classes in the Bible School, served as Bible School Superintendent and as a youth sponsor for a number of years. He served on the Onawa Fire Department for several years and was an active member of the David McNeill Post of the American Legion Number 129 in Onawa. Survivors include his wife, Mabel of Onawa and his one son, Dennis of St. Louis, Missouri."1
