     Esther Carpenter was born on 5 September 1884 at IA.¹ She was the daughter of Oscar Fitzland Carpenter and Rhoda Priscilla Lee.¹ Esther Carpenter married Henry L. Griffing, son of Robert A. Griffing, on 21 November 1904.¹
     As of 21 November 1904,her married name was Griffing.

     Benjamin E. Ball was born say 1793 at CT.¹ He married Rhoda A. (????) say 1815.¹ Benjamin E. Ball died on 29 March 1837 at Delaware, Delaware Co., OH; Rhoda's NARA Pension records show Benjamin's date of death as March 29, 1838; however, his Estate Inventory was dated in 1837, so it is assumed that the year of 1838 must have been in error.¹
     Comment by DGB: In the 1830 Delaware, Delaware Co., OH census there was also an Allen Ball age between 40 and 49 years old that may well be a brother to Benjamin. There also was an Allen Ball listed as paid for digging the grave of Benjamin Ball and it is not clear whether that Allen was Benjamin's son (then age 13) or this other Allen. More importantly yDNA testing of a Ball descendant of this Benjamin E. Ball proves that his line continues back to immigrant Alling Ball of New Haven CT. End of comment. An Administrator's Bond was issued 16 May 1837 to Elem A. Vining, Administrator of the Estate of Benjamin E. Ball, deceased.¹ Elam A. Vining, Administrator of the Estate of Benjamin E.      Benjamin C. Ball was born circa 1840 at OH.² He was the son of William Henry Ball and Aurella Lee.¹ Benjamin C. Ball died on 10 June 1864 at Guntown, Lee Co., MS; killed in action during the Civil War.¹ He was buried at Hopewell Cemetery, Downs, McLean Co., IL.¹

     Permilla Rebecca Ball was born on 28 May 1842 at Delaware Co., OH.^1,2 She was the daughter of William Henry Ball and Aurella Lee.¹ Permilla Rebecca Ball married Daniel R. Bobp on 29 October 1865 at Oldtown, McLean Co., IL.¹ Permilla Rebecca Ball died on 8 August 1904 at Downs, McLean Co., IL, at age 62; injury from kick of a horse.¹ She was buried at Hopewell Cemetery, Downs, McLean Co., IL.¹
     As of 29 October 1865,her married name was Bobp. From an obituary in "The Pantagraph" newspaper, Bloomington, Illinois: Mrs. Edward Bopp of Downs, whose injury by a horse was noted in yesterday's Pantagraph, died from the effects of the wounds about midnight on Monday night. Death came at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Sweadly at Downs. Mrs. Bopp was leading a horse when another horse kicked at the horse she was leading and struck her with both feet in the pit of the stomach. Mrs. Bopp leaves one daughter, Bertha, with three children; one brother, C.L. Ball, who lives west of Downs. She was a widow, her husband, Daniel Bopp, died in Bloomington some ten years ago. She was a member of the M.E. church of Downs. She taught school in her girlhood days and was a woman of more than common ability. She was past fifty years of age. Her father was killed by a passenger train on the Big Four last spring, being caught on the bridge west of Downs, and her brother was killed in the Custer Massacre and the other one in the Civil War. She will be interred in the Hopewell cemetery by the side of her husband.¹

     Eunice Fidusha Ball was born on 1 August 1849 at Delaware, Delaware Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of William Henry Ball and Aurella Lee.¹ Eunice Fidusha Ball married John Harvey Dollard, son of William Henry Dollard and Anna Louisa Schoonover, on 20 March 1870 at Bloomington, McLean Co., IL.² Eunice Fidusha Ball died on 4 November 1897 at Gardner, Johnson Co., KS, at age 48.³ She was buried at Springhill, Johnson Co., KS.¹
     As of 20 March 1870,her married name was Dollard.

Cole, son of Andrew Cole and Nancy Guernee, on 7 September 1843 at Berlin, Delaware Co., OH.¹ Phebe M. Ball died on 9 September 1904 at NE at age 82.² She was buried at Cedarview Cemetery, Doniphan, Hall Co., NE.²
     As of 7 September 1843,her married name was Cole.

     Jacob G. Cole was born on 3 February 1821 at NY.¹ He was the son of Andrew Cole and Nancy Guernee.¹ Jacob G. Cole married Phebe M. Ball, daughter of Benjamin E. Ball and Rhoda A. (????), on 7 September 1843 at Berlin, Delaware Co., OH.¹ Jacob G. Cole died on 8 June 1911 at South Platte, Hall Co., NE, at age 90.¹ He was buried at Cedar View Cemetery, Doniphan, Hall Co., NE.¹

     Caroline Rebecca Ball was born in July 1834 at OH.¹ She was the daughter of Benjamin E. Ball and Rhoda A. (????)¹ Caroline Rebecca Ball married Judson Adoniram Waterman on 19 May 1853 at Delaware Co., OH.¹ Caroline Rebecca Ball died circa 1905 at Cheyenne, Laramie Co., WY.¹ She was buried at New Lisbon City Cemetery, New Lisbon, Juneau Co., WI.¹
     As of 19 May 1853,her married name was Waterman.

     Sherman E. Ball was born circa 1830 at Delaware, Delaware Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Benjamin E. Ball and Rhoda A. (????)¹ Sherman E. Ball married Sarah E. Sprague, daughter of William Sprague and Sarah Davis, on 21 September 1854 at Marion Co., OH.¹
     Sherman E. Ball was in 'H' Company of the Ohio 4th Infantry during the Civil War. He was stationed on 18 April 1861 at Camp Dennison, Symmes, Hamilton Co., OH.¹

     Francis A. Cole was born circa 1844 at Berlin, Delaware Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Jacob G. Cole and Phebe M. Ball.¹ Francis A. Cole died before 1900.²

     Rhoda A. Cole was born on 3 September 1848 at Berlin, Delaware Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Jacob G. Cole and Phebe M. Ball.¹ Rhoda A. Cole married Reuben L. Caldwell, son of John Caldwell and Mary (????).¹ Rhoda A. Cole died on 1 November 1930 at Hall Co., NE, at age 82.¹ She was buried at Cedar View Cemetery, Doniphan, Hall Co., NE.¹
     Her married name was Caldwell.

     Judson Adoniram Waterman was born circa 1826 at OH.¹ He married Caroline Rebecca Ball, daughter of Benjamin E. Ball and Rhoda A. (????), on 19 May 1853 at Delaware Co., OH.¹ Judson Adoniram Waterman died on 18 March 1889 at Clearfield, Juneau Co., WI.¹ He was buried at New Lisbon City Cemetery, New Lisbon, Juneau Co., WI.¹

     Caroline H. Cole was born in March 1860 at Greenfield, Jones Co., IA.¹ She was the daughter of Jacob G. Cole and Phebe M. Ball.¹ Caroline H. Cole married John P. Alexander circa 1879.¹ Caroline H. Cole died on 23 June 1953 at Muncie, Delaware Co., IN, at age 93.¹
     As of circa 1879,her married name was Alexander.

     Oscar A. Ball was born circa 1851 at OH.¹ He was the son of William Henry Ball and Aurella Lee.¹ Oscar A. Ball died on 25 June 1876 at Old Town, McLean Co., IL; According to his father's and sister Rebecca's obituaries, supposedly Oscar died in the Custer massacre at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Comment by DGB: However, the 7th Cavalry Muster Rolls for that time do not include any soldier with surname "Ball", but his death was on that same day as the battle. End of comment.^2,1

Stewart, on 19 August 1878 at McLean Co., IL.¹ Clarence Louis Ball died on 8 December 1926 at Bloomington, McLean Co., IL, at age 73.² He was buried at Hopewell Cemetery, Downs, McLean Co., IL.¹

     Daniel R. Bobp was born on 11 March 1839 at OH.² He married Permilla Rebecca Ball, daughter of William Henry Ball and Aurella Lee, on 29 October 1865 at Oldtown, McLean Co., IL.¹ Daniel R. Bobp died on 10 February 1891 at Bloomington, McLean Co., IL, at age 51.² He was buried at Hopewell Cemetery, Downs, McLean Co., IL.²

     Sarah Ellen Whetsler was born on 12 May 1855 at PA.¹ She was the daughter of Samuel Whetsler and Ruth A. Stewart.² Sarah Ellen Whetsler married Clarence Louis Ball, son of William Henry Ball and Aurella Lee, on 19 August 1878 at McLean Co., IL.¹ Sarah Ellen Whetsler died on 31 May 1920 at Downs, McLean Co., IL, at age 65.¹ She was buried at Hopewell Cemetery, Downs, McLean Co., IL.¹
     As of 19 August 1878,her married name was Ball.

     Mabel Clare Ball was born on 31 July 1879 at Downs, McLean Co., IL.² She was the daughter of Clarence Louis Ball and Sarah Ellen Whetsler.¹ Mabel Clare Ball married Jesse Ralph Craig, son of Jesse Washington Craig and Eliza W. Clement, on 3 April 1898.³ Mabel Clare Ball died on 20 December 1938 at Bloomington, McLean Co., IL, at age 59.² She was buried at Hopewell Cemetery, Downs, McLean Co., IL.¹

     Guy Raymond Ball was born on 19 October 1880 at New Lisbon, Juneau Co., WI.¹ He was the son of Clarence Louis Ball and Sarah Ellen Whetsler.¹ Guy Raymond Ball married Nellie Fay Irwin, daughter of Lawson Ellsworth Irwin and Hannah Kirby, on 3 July 1903 at Bloomington, McLean Co., IL.² Guy Raymond Ball died on 28 May 1938 at Iowa City, Johnson Co., IA, at age 57.¹ He was buried at McGuire Bend Cemetery, Dayton, Webster Co., IA.³
